A family member served in CO C, 56th AT&T Bn.  His Track Vehicle training was in the Panama Canal Zone, Jul - Sep 1952.  Apparently went on from there to Korea for about 1 year, 3 months.  Was honorably discharged on 9 Dec 1953.

There is little reference or attention given to supporting and attached units such as AmTrac Battalions, making specifics difficult to locate. The following is from Across the Reef by Victor J. Croizat and is the only reference to the 56th states that the Army 56th Amphibian Tank Battalion provided 18 LVT(A)s from its “A” Company to lead the two battalions of the 1st Marines embarked aboard 164 LVT3Cs of the 1st Amphibian Tractor Battalion landing on Blue Beaches at Inchon.

Good luck on your hunt, if I come across more information I will post.

I'm on a hunt for anything relating to this unit.  I'm trying to do a little research on my Grandpa's Unit's that he was a part of.  I got a hold of his DA Form 24 and it has these listed at the very top the dates that are on there are 7 Dec 1951 and another one for Co C 56th ATT Bn dated 14 Feb 1952.  Can anyone help me find anything?  This is just the beginning of units that are on this paper.

Thanks,

Wes
