WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TANK OF ALL TIME!

My favorite tank would have to be the M-60

M3 Lee. The tank that briged the "land battleship" concept with the modern tank layout.

BTW, I commanded an M60A3TTS platoon in Germany, will always have a spot in my heart for that tank.

Tiger ll. Fire power to beat any tank, armor for protection and just looks like it could chew up any thing it came up against.

So ya like Shermans, yeah?
So do I. Just finished a Dragon JSDF M4A3E8.
But FAVORITE TANK OF ALL TIME, as I may have mentioned elsewhere, is still the Tiger II, Porsche turret. I just love that crazy turret, shot-trap and all.
Strangely enough, not really a fan of the Tiger II with the Henschel turret.

hmm...

Sentinel and the variants. Never saw action but the potential it had was good considering where it came from (Australia) and the military industry at the time.

The Sherman is my next favorite, followed by the M18 Hellcat

No clear favourite for me, but I do love those multi-turreted monsters of pre-WWII..! Tongue [:P]

Here's one of them:

This is the French FCM F1, of which only a wooden mock-up was ever built before the Germans overan France in 1940.
http://www.info-micro.com/engins/archives/fcm_f1.htm
It was supposed to be a 'Siegfried Line buster'. My model shows a 'what if' FCM F1 in service in the French army...

As far a single turreted tanks go, I'd have to go with the Char B1bis... Cool [8D]

Jagdpanther what an awesome hunk of machinery that was. That thick nasty front slope that would richocett almost anything off it backed by the long 88 (same as on Tiger II) and the drivetrain of the Panther. Ask Uwe Feist...had an opportunity to meet him once his favorite as well... and he commanded several types including Tigers

My favorite is the Sherman family. It was such a versitile machine. Tops though is the M4A3E8, the Cadillac of Shermans.

Wait, wait! I forgot!
As far as looks go, my favorite is the JSDF Type 74 tank. Slinky flat, cast turret, and that no-return-roller sag that we all love. Plus, it's the only tank I've ever ridden in. The local JSDF base holds an open house once a year, putting all their gear on display and even putting on a "battle simulation" armor attack complete with Cobra support. Then ya get to ride in everything. Except the choppers. Still, pretty sweet.
And if your a pacisfist, ya gotta love the JSDF tanks. Never fired a shot in anger. Except at Godzilla.
Well, that was usually a Chaffee, Sherman, or Type 61, actually.
I could go on...

It is definately Tamiya's Tiger 1 variations. Whether it be Early, Mid or Late. I can build those kits over and over again, and never get bored.

Sorry you all I think everyone forgets the three tanks that make modern US armor what it should be . The M1A1 abrams, the M2/M3 A2 variety Bradley calvary fighting vehicle , and The M 88 tank recovery vehicle. Being a scout in the Us Army , I have grown to love the Bradley. After seeing the power of the Abrams ( and the accuracy) I am glad they are on my side. But having sevred on an M 88 also leaves a soft spot in my heart (and some rattled teeth!) for the recovery vehicle

Its hard to believe but the M1A1 will go down in history as the Main Battle Battle Tank that lastest the longest in service. Designed in the 70's Introduced in the 80's and used now in the 00's with no replacement in sight. It will go down in history. I have a soft spot for the M3 Lee and Grant-but compared to the M1A1 Abrams they were only used for a few years to months-same for the Sherman.Soft spot too for the M60A3 TTS -whatever happened to the Tamiya kit. I wanted to build one-but it sure disappeared ! Great magazine Fine Scale. BH

I just wanted to say something about the last post. While I agree that the M1A1 is great tank, perhaps the best ever put into service, I must respectfully disagree with the statement that it has lasted the longest in service. The T34 was first seen in 1940 and is probably still used in the armies of a few small countries today. That’s over 60 YEARS!!!!!!!! It was the first main battle tank to incorporate sloped armor, and at the time had a devastating 76mm gun. The equivalent german Pz III had a 5cm gun, and could scarcely penetrate the T34s armor at 100 yards!!!

Is the T34 my favorite tank? Well… I guess its one of my favorites. Others include the Pz III, and the Pz IV

Oh yah, I also saw on the news during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990’s, a vehicle based on a sherman chassie!!

Favorite tank/s... well, I'll go for M1A1 and the later variant. Why? It has been combat proven. For me it is the toughest tank in the world. Though, I would like to see T-90S+ and T-84(with Sthora and Arena APS, wonder if they perform well under battle condition) both in kit and battle. I own several M1 kit under various makes and designations. Boy I like them all. For WW II, I prefer Panther (any Panther).

Fancy this, say M1A1 confronts T-84, who will win.

I rather like the Panther. Doesn't matter what version, I just like Panthers. I got to crawl around on one of these in Canada a few years back and that experience just reinforced my fascination with this beast.

How about a poll for favorite Tank Destroyer? My vote would be the Hetzer.

My favorite tank of all time is the Israeli merkava 3. Being an ex 19delta cav scout I have seen just about everything out there. But some country is alway's developing something new and more lethal than the last. And Israel can hold it's own in the middle east pretty well. Also I have recently came across a Puma by legend's, it's an all resin kit and is an excellent casting. when I finish I'll post it on this sight. thank you and support our troop's overseas.

It depends on the era. For WW 2 of course the Panther and Tiger with their derivatives followed by the Shermans, later i would choose for the M 60 and for nowadays of course the world best Tank - German Leopard 2 A 5 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!
56 tons of full packed firepwoer and protection and for the enmy 56 tons of fear and danger.
