Hey hey hey, you guys are getting into MY model build vintages!  If we are not careful, it will be the basis for an “old-old-old GB”!

RBaer, glad to see the T-62 getting done!  Another Tamiya oldie armor kit gets love.  I like it.

Gamera, it’s never too late to finish a model.  Unless it’s for a GB!  Man, you have matched me in SOD builds.  I am humbled.

Fossilized is the word for it. I should check to see if it's turned to stone.

Annoying thing is I have most of the kit. Just one of the inner warp drive nacelles parts vanished. I know it has to be around somewhere.

I like rediscovering older kits that I built as a child. It's a challenge to see what I can do with it today as opposed to my younger days when I tube glued it without paint.

Rob, that's part of it for me too, and part of it is also the fact that some of these older kits are being sold off with a rather large collection of AM stuff in the box. I think I paid $40 for two kits, the Verlinden "update" which was a good pound and a half of resin, four turned aluminum gun tubes, a resin mantlet cover for the Tamiya kit and two Eduard PE sets, one old and one new. It was well over two and a half pounds shipped. How could I say no?

I had the Friuls on hand, and I scrounged the Trump drive sprockets somewhere. I hate to say it, but it's been primed and shot in Vallejo Russian green, from the newish rattle can range. Pics soon.

I started with the new-to-me Vallejo spray can Russian green, and it's pretty good stuff. It goes on nicely and dries dead flat. Of course I shot some clear over it so I could go on with the tan and gray, and it'll get some more clear before I do a pin wash, but it's moving along nicely.

I guess I got motivated.

I'm thinking I may roll into the Trump T-62 after this, just for kicks, maybe do it in Egyptian colors.

   When did they stop putting the Fuel barrels on the outside rear? That made RUSSIAN hardware so recognizeable! BUt, Yours is recognizeable for it's quality of fit and finish. Very nice Job!

With the rebranded T-90 once the Soviet Union no longer needed long range attack forces. They still have the ability to mount barrels, but are no longer standard.

Thanks all. Re the fuel barrels: They were often just left off due to damage and/or lack of need. I've got a few pics of T-62s without them, but I agree, they're kind of neat looking.

I started the Trump T-62 Mod 1972, big difference in hull lengths is the most notable dimensional thing. The Tamiya kit's hull is about two scale feet longer, with the added length being between the last road wheel station and the final drive, which also stretches the engine deck quite a bit. I'll get pics up shortly, but it's interesting. I'm especially curious about the turret shape and size differences.

Oh how did I miss this! Very nice looking job, love the camo and the tracks look so good! 

Good luck with the Trumpeter T-62, I wonder if Tamiya lengthened their kit for the motor and batteries on the powered version? Just guessing- I have no idea.

Lotsa fun, and with all that Verlinden resin and the Friuls, it's easily the heaviest model in my case.

That turned out great!  Despite the kit’s accuracy issues, it absolutely looks like a T-62.  I love Soviet armor in middle east camo.  

Are you planning on adding some figures?

Thanks G. I have a couple of CMK "Iraqi tankers" that look like they'll work, so the answer is a definite "maybe". I painted the inside of the turret hatch openings black, and detailed the inside of the hatch covers too, thinking along those lines when I started back up on the build, so it's ready for turret crew figs. I'm thinking one standing, one in the TC's hatch.

Oh cool! That came out really well, I love the camo!!! Hope you add the figures, I love how they look with an AFV.

Beautiful!  What is it about those older Tamiya models that, inspite of their flaws, look great when done?  That looks like a T-62 to me.
