As I said in the Hawk thread I have had little desire to build and even less desire to post anything.  

I have however over the last few months slowly worked on this kit.  

To date this is what I have accomplished.

And even some on the engine.

Overall not too many issues that were unknown.  This build is part of a buddy build on Facebook.

I know how you feel Joe. I've  been pretty uninspired over the past 6 years. Trying to get something over the finish line. Glad to see your building armor. Nice start so far. I hear these Takom kits are very nice.

Looking forward to seeing the "Joe" treatment on this one.

I've been in a sort of funk sorta like that, I haven't finished anything all year. I just keep pulling new stuff out, fiddling with it, but never finishing anything...

Come now, snap out if it. It happens now and then and as a matter of fact I fellt the same way a couple of months back but I got bit again so back to the bench. I'm switching gears from planes to armor for a different flavor.

That is quite an excellent kit with tons of details. It's looking really good so far and will be pulling up a chair to follow along.

I have in my stash # 2047 with the Henchel Turret w/Zimm and it looks impressive. I have several Dragon, Takom and Rayfield Tigers in the stash so I will be starting some of them soon.

Guess what is back on the bench.

Tacom 1/35 King Tiger.  

Did just a little since the last time I showed it.  Not much to be honest.  Had to refresh my mind as to how I was going to tackle it.

One thing that is done is the cuts are made.

Well my friends it is time for a brief update on the Tacom King Tiger.

The main construction seems to be complete.  There are some smaller things here and there but the main construction is done.  

Detail has been added to the lower hull rear plate.

The upper hull.

And both the inner and outer portions of the turret.

Since these pictures have been taken the upper hull, lower hull, and the turret have gotten some color.  More on that later.

Like you and others have said, sometimes it's hard to get back on the models with everything else going on in life. But that's one good thing abouyt this hobby, it's one we can leave for days or ever months and get right back into it where we left. 

It's been happening to me a lot lately. Life just seems to find a way to cut into some things I enjoy doing.

This kit has some issues that need to be addressed.  There are reviews and videos as well as build ups that explain them all.  These do however make the kit more challenging.  All in all it is good but many things will frustrate a builder.

And now for a brief update on the Tacom King Tiger Porshe turret.

This post is all about color.  Started painting using Mig Ammo paints.  The names escape me for the moment but the pictures will tell the story.

First up was Stynlrez Metal Primer.  Over that went the main color.  It went down smooth.  

Oops I forgot to show my added radio set.  The pictures are not the best but they do show the headsets.  All of the other pieces are the co-drivers side.

Now the second round of paint set the tri color scheme.

The last thing is the exhausts.  First I used the Metal Stynlrez, after that dried I sprayed(psi was near 2 or 3) Model Master Metallic Burnt Iron.  Shortly after that dried I stippled several pastel pigments to give it a bit of texture.

Now overall the paint job is not accurate.  At least to the drawing in the instructions.  I am ok with it and will proceed.  

Next is to finish off the ammo racks for the hull and the turret.  Then to glue it all together and install the tracks.

Sooooooooo awsome! Doesn't matter if the paint isn't  accurate. You've done an excellent job on it. If you like the paint then that's all that matters.

Accurate?? It looks awesome. I really like how it’s turning out with the cutouts showing interior areas seldom seen.

For me the pattern does not match that in the painting guide.  That bothers me a bit but I know I am not the best with an airbrush.  As for the tracks I used the kit tracks.

The final update.

Yes she is finished.  

Here is the finished Tacom King Tiger Porshe Turret, 1/35.

The main colors are from the Mig.  There are a few AK as well as others as needed.  The weathering is minimal.  Wanted a display piece but not pristine.  

Now there is an issue.  Once I applied the dull coat and took the final pictures I noticed a great deal of silvering under the decals.  Once seen I went back over with a sharp blade and then some decal solvent.
