I love the crew on M60's two tanks and the storage on yours!

Looks great Mike

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

I've been working over my model with some pin washes on the hull and painting the stowage.
Right now I've got a fresh coat of matte clear over a selective mix of green and brown washes over the boxes and gear. I haven't done the tools yet, and I'm sure I'll be doing a few touch ups and some highlighting to further please the eyes lol.

M-60 Tanker's been playing with crew arrangements and finalizing the detail painting for both tanks.
M-60 tanker is doing some very nice work.
M. Brindos Gamera Mike: So yours is the M4A3E8 and your dad's is the M4A1E8? They both look great! That's three builds you're seeing. I've just been hosting my Dad's work for him because these are all going into the same diorama.

Oh DUH!!! Guess that explains why your dad's tank looks like a M4A1E8 and a M4A3E8, because it's both!!!
The dio sounds cool, looking forward to how it turns out.
M1GarandFan I'm really looking forward to this diorama. It sounds like it will be awesome.

I hope so. You don't typically see an entire platoon modelled.
As for M-60 Tanker's progress, he's almost done with a second build.
GreySnake Those are two great looking Sherman’s looking forward to seeing them completed.
Thanks! That's actually 3 different builds. One is mine and the other two are M-60 Tanker's. I have one more E8 and a Pershing to build and he has another Dragon Sherman to go yet.
We're building a platoon together for a large diorama.
M-60 Tanker's builds are going well with the first coat of Model Master rattle can O.D. ending up a bit dark, but I've advised him on how to tone it down. It should be fun to see how he tackles the problem.
I'm quite proud of how far my Dad has come in so short of a time. I learned all of my first lessons from him and now he's asking me for tips. He was always better than me in my mind and he always will be.
Thanks. We've both made some good progress.
I've gotten to the base paint color of Tamiya Olive Drab with Vallejo U.S.A.F Olive Drab (AKA O.D. '41) as modulation and then an overall Vallejo Green wash to bring back the green tones of the Tamiya O.D.
I finished up the tracks this evening. The entire lower hull got the pigment treatment wich is as I found out, is very easy to over do. Vallejo pigments were slopped over it all, including the tracks and then I went to town detailing with different washes to change the tones and break up the monotony of the single color pigment I possess. Ya gotta work with whutcha got. The tracks were dry brushed with Testors Aluminum enamel. I prefer the dull shine when the enamel is matte coated vs silver. I will begin detail painting next. As you can see I've already got the stars on. Those, unfortunately are the only decals. No other markings are included.

Both builds are very impressive Mike.
I long to live in a world where chickens can cross the road without having their motives questioned
Thanks! I've got some updates to catch up on. I've got a second E8 to build and a Pershing as well.
This project is keeping me busy and keeping my mind on time management.
All looking good! I just may get a Sherman bug here.....
Apprentice rivet counter.
Nice work there on both M4s!!!
I'm going to finish the day with first, M-60 Tanker's progress, and then my own.
He's almost done with his E8, with little but some effects and a final clear coat to finish it off.
He found an old Italleri M4A3 composite hull with the T-23(?) Turret and started building that one up as well. The first thing he found out was that the Dragon DS tracks make a good fit. He used some Bondo spot glazing putty to add some caring texture to the upper hull. His lineup is looking really good so far. My progress isn't nearly as fast, but I'm down to just the fender brackets and tool straps. The turret and the lower hull are in primer. Almost ready for the paint shop!

Got some minor detailing done today. Started by detailing up the .50 cal and branched out to hatch handles and other minor details such as the loaders hatch spring-catch. I added the head pad and latch to the commanders hatch. Drilled and pinned all four hatches so I can move them around until I get the crew setup. All of the hardware is now installed on the turret.
I still need to finish up the upper hull assembly and all of the tiny bits like tools to attach later. But it's starting to look serious. I like it.

RBaerCome to think of it, it's been a couple of years since I did anything Sherman.......
Hop on the bandwagon lol.
Tojo72 The stowage looks good. I always thought they looked like the Beverly Hillbillies truck.

Lol yeah. I'm just not going overboard with it lol.
Beautiful build! I have the same kit but can't find time to work on it. Honestly this thread gave me some inspiration..
Oh yes I have made up my mind. I'm going with both lol. Because guns!
Hey Mike, this "Easy Eight" is coming along nicely. I did notice that you haven't made up your mind if you're going to use the M2 .50cal MG or the M1 .30cal MG for the turret. IMHO I'd go for "Ma Deuce". This tank looks like another winner.
I think your storage is just fine, but I'm under the impression that most of the U.S. tanks DID look like they were part of a gypsy caravan, at least near the end of the war in Europe.
Thanks. I've been careful not to overload it. I don't want it to turn into a gypsy caravan.
Looks good to me Mike, like the storage!
