USMC LAV C3I
Posted by 036hir on Wednesday, December 13, 2006 7:50 PM

Here are some pics of a USMC LAV Command, Communications, Control, and Intelligence vehicle I found at Kaneohe MCAS in Hawaii. I took several rolls of film to work from. I used the Italeri kit for starters, reworking the entire top deck, cupola, and sides of the vehicle. The antenna was scratched up from brass square tubing and steel wire. Unfortunately, my pocketbook said I had to stay with the kit tires. Turning them turned out to be quite an exercise. Hope everyone likes the pics.

As I understand it from talking with a crew member, the vehicle would be situated behind a dune, berm, or revetment and the antenna extended way above. The profile then becomes very small. The antenna also has the capability to be rotated 360 degress and tilted 90 degrees. This vehicle had just come back from ODS. Thanks to all for their feedback and comments, they are much appreciated.
