questions about the Hetzer and StuG III G

Hetzer: did it come with a Zimmerit and did it come with ANY color besides the multi color that {I think the DOOG did} shows up on the top of this site from time to time. Mainly a reddish brown green dark yellow then tiny little spots?

StuG III did it come with only waffle Zimmerit, did it come without Zimmerit?

Dan, the Hetzer never had zimmerit. I've seen Dark Yellow only as well as the tri-color camo in giraffe spot and ambush among other popular schemes.

The Stugs did have other zimm patterns other than the waffle. Don't have my refs handy at the moment, but will check it out when I get home.

is anybody getting excited out there??

I have a JagdPanzer with Cavalier zimm and a aftermarket barrel that I am considering for this group build as I don't see any one else making one. HOWEVER I am leaning towards the biggest tank destroyer, the JagdTiger. I already have a list of what I will need to buld it up. Great time for this GB as my tax return will pay for my JT and aftermarket goodies Big Smile [:D] I will also join the Artillery GB with a DML s.FH 18 OOB, and maybee the Panzer Aces GB with a OTTO Carius Tiger.

By last check there are 5 Jagdpanzers. Do you mean Jagdpanther?

Eric, does washing the sprues constitute starting the build or working on the kit?  I was just thinking that I had some time this evening and I might do that, but only if it doesn't violate the GB rules.

Thanks!!

Which part of 2/1/08 to 6/1/08 don't you understand? Question [?]

Or "wash sprues but don't start yet?"

I don't know. Everyone else is patiently waiting, naye, eager for the build to start, and there is this one guy who has to jump the start ... and tell everyone about it. It kind of makes a mockery out of setting a timeframe.

Tigerman,

Yes I typed too fast. Too much coffee Tongue [:P] I did mean JagdPanther. I will probably add some PE and a after market barrel. Maybee some aftermarket track. If not then it will be a JagdTiger. It all will be decided by my tax return. Thanks for pointing out my error.

Best Regards,

                Mark

My order from Greatmodels hasn't come yet. Otherwise build will be OOB except for Archer Transfers.

BTW Frankgly, the sign up list shows you doing a Jagdpanther, not a Jagdtiger.  I'm not complaining or anything just curious!

Maybe in all fairness that was his build. Too many pages to thumb back through, but you may PM if you'd like and I apologize if I'm in error on this.

Excellent choice and welcome aboard. I just won one on ebay last week. I'd go for Russia and do a winter-wash. Just my choice, because I doubt we'll see any here.

Eric-Nice PE to go with your Jagdpanzer.

Ernest, I couldn't tell you which is better, probably my Dragon kit. LOL It ought to be fun to compare differences between the 3 kits.

Okay, now that I have your guys attention: Does anyone know if PE skirts were popular on the long-barreled Jagds? I believe Ernest asked if we thought they looked good with them and i responded that I did at that, but want mine to be accurate enough.

Were PE skirts popular on the real thing? Um, no...I think they used steelWink [;)]

To answer the question: no. They were seen very infrequently, and the only L/70 variant which commonly has them is the mesh-skirted Jagdpanzer IV L/70(A) Zwischenlosung.

Here's the only photo of a skirted (very sparsely too!) L/70 variant I've see:

For every modeling technique that works, I have three that don't.

Thanks. Frankly, I have no refs of them on the long, only the shorter 75. However, my kit included them, so I may do it anyway.

The Enclopedia of German Tanks shows several pics of the long barreled Stugs and Panzer IV/70(V) with shurzen (side skirts) so you are safe using them.

Well, I'm thinking about not putting schurzen on mine.  I noticed that the Italeri kit includes schurzen but has no schurzen mounts at all...they just glue onto the fenders.  Some finished builds show a strange angular type mount for the schurzen, something I have not been able to confirm via the internet.  Does anyone have a recommendation on a good reference book or books on the Jagdpanzer IV series??

I tried PMing him on the matter. Someone noticed that this wasn't on the first page build list, but rather a Jagdpanther. So, there might have been some overreaction.

Thanks Mark on the schurzen info, because I can't confirm it either way.

Unless I misunderstand you, are you talking about the tubular style bracket that was used to hang the mesh schurzen? I've found refs to be lacking unlesss you want to shell large $$'s for a book. Tanks in Detail might have good pics.

Jeff, only 4 more days bud. Got your build down.

Yay, got my transfers today. Way more than I'll need. Sad part, is that all my future builds seem to not have these kind of numbers.
