Little progress made tonight.  I assembled the shell racks and that little box thingee with all the holes in it,  then glued some handles onto the body.  I did a little research on the Marder as well, trying to find some in depth pics to help in construction.

I'll throw some pics up tomorrow.  Me too tired right now.

Thanks Jester!  I would think that the Grouser Box  is one of the items replaced with a PE set.  This little guy is straight OOB though. 

It's about 6 inches Eric. A beauty to store on the shelf. I wish I were building one, far simpler than this Dragon disaster.

J Mart. about the fender I did thinner them with file and band it, and bend it, to simulate the fenders damaged I used my drill to do the job.

Tigerman. about the scheme. I am still working on it, do you have any idea?

No clue bro. I don't have many refs for that vehicle. I've seen many in dunkelgelb only. Some with tri-color camo and others in ambush. Sky's the limit. I like this one. There are others on ML too.

Ok, I know this stuff is not on par with most of the wizardry on this forum, but I am posting an update to show the recovery status from the decal melt down.

The next step is sealing the model and starting the weathering.  Plus I am throwing a tarp on the rear deck and that needs paint.  Nearly dry in these pictures.

Thanks, Tigerman.  Dullcote is next, which will bring it down.  Then I am planning to start the weathering process over the weekend and I am planning to use some pigments to darken it up and give it the look of having been used to dig...shiny on the tip, darker at the top.

So we shall see how it turns out.

Either that or this tank just came from one of those ceremonial groundbreaking events and they got to keep the silver shovel!

Question for everyone:  now that the solvent ate my decals and my paint job, I am thinking about skipping the numbers on the hull.  I have seen pictures with and without numbers.  Any thoughts?  Can I skip them? Do they add enough?

And while we are at it:  The directions show track sections stuck to the upper hull sides and front. I am thinking about using them, but dont want them just floating on the sides and have MR or Dupes call me out on that.  What is the standard attachement approach?  Make a bracket? Use a strap?  How do you folks make them look attached?

If you have reliable refs showing no markings than that should be good to go. You can't beat refs.

As for the tracks on the side, one must think they were attached with some sort of brackets, but alas, are they similar to say a KT? I haven't a clue.

DerOberst: on most vehicles based on the Mk IV chassis, the only spare track brackets are on the front of the hull and sometimes on the rear panel. Most other spares are added for armor protection and are usually not secured in any hard fashion.

On the Jagdpanzer, they might be resting on the tops of the schurzen brackets, but there were no dedicated mounting points on the hull sides.

Tigerman, if luck is on my side I will have my kit by this Saturday.

Progress has been slow on the Nashorn recently - mostly a case of waiting for the Mattcote to cure. However, I've been able to start adding dry-brushed highlights this morning, and will be able to start on serious weathering soon.

Meantime the crew figures are finished. Not really crew, more just some figures to add interest and give a sense of scale. They're based on figures from the Tamiya 1/35 German Tank Crew at Rest and the Dragon 1/35 Stug. Crew Reloading sets, painted with Tamiya, Humbrol and Citadel acrylics, and oil paints for the faces.

frangkly - Thanks for the "damage" info/tip!

DerOberst - Looks very nice, "wizardly" enough for me! nice job on the figure, left hand seems to be in the air a bit? hard to tell. Great recovery on the decals.. I am not an expert (done only a/c) but couple times I had to "stencil" number markings im lieu of a decal. I print out the numbers/letters, cut the "frame" enclosing the markings, paste to an index card for support, then score the markings with a new blade. you can "wrap" your index card around curved surfaces (like fuselage or turrets), secure in place with tape and AB the markings in white. Hope this helps just a bit!

Slow progress on the StuG so far, I am so bored at cleaning up crappy weld seems on German Panzer I just might go LuftWaffe...

The main gun is getting there, still confused about the lower interior color.
The running gear is tidied up and waiting for the torsion bars to be secured.

This is the step where you decide if you want to let the running gear run over an obstacle or not.
wbill76 has allready taken you through the concerns.
Allthough very detailed it is not a moving gear, every arm has a fixed position unless you decide otherwise. The first and last arm are limmited by the fixed position schock absorbers anyway.

I know that Bill's display stand is more exclusive but hey, mine is hotter
