"The Hunters GB" (2/1/08 to 6/1/08)

Great subject for your 1st armor build in a while. Looks like the huge fat beast is coming along fine. (No jokes about my missus..PLEASE!!!) Love the beaten up fenders.

 Here are some progress pics of my Jagdtiger, Dragon 6050, the idler arm doesn't have a pin or anything which is kind of annoying, but so far I like the kit.

I finally finished the PE zimm on my Stugly. It looks fairly decent (To me) so far but im sure the proof will be when i get some primer on it. Ive found that by burnishing the edges down, you dont get such a sharp and unrealistic edge, but as i say, Get some primer on it and it may all go pear shaped. Any hooo here she is so far.

Hi all,

My StuG III/G was in the mail frm Hong Kong yesterday, so that's another string to the bow. I've not been able to do much, but got a few parts added to the Chinese Type 89 two night ago. Trumpeter has interesting subjects but smetimes it can be a bear getting around the concessions to the subject matter -- for instance this kit has dozens of holes to be opened up to receive fittings that (I'm assuming) differ between the three vehicles sharing the same chassis (the WZ371 tracked carrier, IIRC). The holes are not as precisely aligned as one might hope for, so there's always some pushing and pulling to do to get the vehicle-specific parts into place.

Me neither, but knowing Eduard, they generally are pretty much on the ball with these things. I think im going to have to do a bit of research. Just for myself mind you, the Zimm's not coming off lol.

 Just ordered some Model Kasten track's for my Marder looking foward to trying these out,hope there worth the money. If you've used them before let me know what ya think of 'em.

Looking forward to seeing your results with the Model Kasten tracks.  Might order some for mine if the rest of the build is worthy.

Panzerguy, you wont regret the MK tracks. I used a set on my Tamiya StuG B and they were fantastic!! Realistic sag, easy to assemble although a bit time consuming but what indi links aren't? When I painted mine, I primed with black and before it was dry, i picked up the tracks by both ends and articulated them to keep them working. Did the same for every coat of paint. Here is how they look on the tank.....

Did you get the SK series??

It's not up to me, but there are a couple of circumstances working against you ...

1. The StuG Ausf A, B, C, D and E were specifically excluded from this build.

2. The StuG Ausf A, B, C, D and E were specifically excluded from this build.

I realize that the 2nd point was the same as the first one, but it was such a good point that I thought it was worth reiterating.

That, and there was no participation by showing us progress of the actual build, but that's besides the point.

It's a very nice model you made, though.

Sorry brother, but Brews is correct. Had you entered at the start and then submitted, it could have counted as a GB. Participation is greatly appreciated and encouraged. If you'd like to submit another build under the GB requirements, then that would be okay.

Dostacos, good job on the Hetzer. Makes me keep eyeing mine. You might want to hit the contact points with a bit of silver or grey-metallic though.

Finally got some paint slung on this beast. Primed with flat black rattlecan enamel and then base coated with Tamiya Dark Yellow. Tamiya's dark yellow looks much better than MM's version of it IMO...

A ANOTHER HETZER! I thought each person can only do one diffrent model in a GB. I call the first Hetzer on this forum.

Sorry for behing rud but its just I been lonking forward of build Tamiya's Hetzer that I don't want to be kick off this GB.

Already got the kit for 55$ and I even got a good dio idea.

It will  be my first model with Camo.

No offense but I thought I was the one in this GB to do a Hetzer.

I don't know of any GBs that have that requirement....... where did you get that idea?

Jester - your build is looking really good! Very...mean. I totally agree about Tam dunkel vs MM dunkel. I'm colorblind and I can tell they're a totally different color. Heh.

Well I thought that was what a GB was, like a contest except each person does one diffrent tank of that catagory (in this case tank hunter) so there can't be two Hetzer.

But I must have misunderstood, this is my 2ed GB. Sorry
