Bob, nice to have you back. It appears to be a cool kit from ones I've seen. The AM will go even farther.

Thanks Tigerman.  Good to be close to starting.

I read of you work situation earlier-I can relate.  I'm in the same age bracket (51), have a 14 year old son that is involved in every school sport possible (which requires parental involvement) and working in the automotive industry (metal stamping) as an ERP analyst (software), an industry that is getting a lot of attention these days.  Time for modeling is down at the bottom of the list.  But the stash seems to be growing....ah...one of these days.....

Svenne, yes the Sunday paper and a ton of coffee. Doesn't get better than that.

Bob, irony is, as busy as I pretend to be at times, I do have about 2 hours of freedom when I get home from work. Most members would be so envious of that, but when you average about 5 hours of sleep on a weekday, you get, shall we say, exhausted. Zzz [zzz] So when I get home I check in the web, slowly fade away at the computer, then try to grab a nap. I'm going to start working out when I get home so I can build up some energy. Plus with the weather slowly improving, that gets me going as opposed to that dreary grey sky with lots of rain coming down. Yuck [yuck]

I'm done with the Hornisse! Here's a couple pics.

Tigerman, is that all I have to do to get the badge? I'm new to GB's.

Geist,  Nice looking Hornisse!  I like the way you can still see the original yellow on the interior, and its lookin' mighty cold out there on those steppes.

Excellent Geist. How did you do your whitewash? Can you get some close-ups? You can grab your badge too.

All I did was brush on extra thinned flat white over the dark yellow. I'll try to get some close ups for you.

Nice diorama there, simple and intersting, speaking of dio, I have started on the base yet, but has a simple idea for it, and the hetzer is doing great.

Assembly done.

Base coat.

And a new thecnique for the camo, play doh.

Will it work? find out soon.

Working on: Trumpeter SU-152 (1/35) Trumpeter E-10 (1/35) Heller Somua (1/35)

Geist - digging the Hornisse. I think I've seen the pic you were using for reference - you certainly nailed the winter scheme that was shown there. Good stuff! Big Smile [:D]

Another build I would have liked to hijack for Winter Warriors...hehehehhe. Mischief [:-,]

Hi all,

There was a post way back about repairing damage to the textured treadplate on an Italeri Jagdpanzer IV. I just found that Extratech make PE treadplates in 1:35 and a variety of styles -- one of these may be appropriate to fix this kind of problem. Sand away all surface detail in the fender region, replace with the PE item.

Hope this is of help,

TB379

The SU-76 proves to be a very interesting build.
The absence of positioning holes/indicators in the sub assemblies makes most subs a bit off a challenge.
The quality off the molds is not excellent which means that some components are molded with high flash and at the same time the part is only 95 % represented.

And still, I must say that I enjoy the kit BIG times.

Here is a progress pic, the main gun is pretty much there, a first layer off Tamiya Dark Yellow has been applied to reveal mayor flaws.
The quality off the picture is not great I know, its taken with a mobile phone.

Looking snappy Svenne. Thumbs Up [tup]

Getting close to painting. I test fitted the top to the bottom hull and was surprised it didn't fit. If I kind of pull the upper half apart a bit, it will fall in. Scared me. There will be some interesting puttying to do near the tranny. Won't be easy. Also, the aluminum gun barrel is too heavy, so I'll have to use the travel-lock to hold it up. Still don't know if I'll put the PE shileds on, probably not.

Wow, awesome stuff going on here.

Geist very nice work my friend, and the Dio looks great, Simple but sweet

T-rex, that playdoh looks like its going to be sweet. Ive never used that on armor before and look forward to seeing it in all its glory.

Svenne, loving the SU. Thats another AFV on my wanted list. Is it an ok kit or a beast. Be frank.

Hey all. Finally finished me Stugly with the PE zimm. I must admit i was a bit apprehensive about the zimm but it actually went on reasonably well. I added a dragon Stug crew, which IMO didnt go too bad for my 2nd ever figures. Faces are a bit poor but the next will be better. i promise. Anyhoo. Heres some pics. Comments and crits as per usuall.

This is looking mighty good to me!
I like the figurines, they do add life to your build.
3 quick bullets:
*Get some stash on the engine deck, these Stug's where mules.
*There is some heavy wheathering on the lower sides, that would show on the inner diameter of the drive wheels and, yes, all wheels.
* the triangular mounting brackets for the side fenders are grossly oversized on the supplied parts in this kit. If you look at the size of them they are triangular pieces that would translate to 150*150*150*30MM in size. They can easily be scaled down and made thinner.

Did you use templates to paint the wheels, excellent defenition!

Beuatiful Stug IV Guy. I think the zim is quite passable, much better than the one I had for my Panther. Photos are a bit bright, but I think I can make out all the detail. Love the tracks BTW. Well earned badge. Thumbs Up [tup]

Wow Luft!  That's a great looking StuG!!  You did a fantastic job all around and I have to say I'm amazed at how well the PE zim came out!  Thumbs Up [tup]  Were the periscopes in the commanders cupola really that green?

Hey thanks guys. Apart from the Zimm, i pretty much built this OOB. I think the green on the cupola was a little OTT. I saw the effect on another cupola and thought it looked great. Im afraid mine didnt come up to the same standard. I will dirty her up a bit more. It definately needs some mud on the wheels. Thanks again for the comments lads.

Oh yeah, the wheel masks were made by my goodself with a circle cutter on some firm card. I used the white backing sheet that comes with Eduards PE.

It was good to get some work done. Here in Texas we're starting to warm-up, so I've been trying to get my yard in order over the past few weekends. Got most of it done so hopefully I'll be able to get more model time in.Cowboy [C):-)]
