Good news: looking at your progress- inspires me to work on my little plastic glob.
Bad news: looking at my little plastic glob – depresses me, so I have to go back and look at your work for its Zen like quality’s.
Ohoommm

Building the perfect model---just not quite yet
Body work coming along nicely, and welcome back.
Can you tell me about this "thread trick" to cut out the door? I can't believe how cleanly you got it out of there.
Thanks Lee, Steve (LOL) and Greg.

.....
Well, I'll be!
Thanks for that, Joe.
No problem there brutha Greg!
For a couple of days I was just stuck. I had the body primed and was going to test fit the body on the chassis so I could figure out where to make the hood cuts at when......I noticed that the body wasn't going all the way down on the chassis. Long story short I had to take the couch back out in the back as it was too close to the L/H wall of the body. It took me a minute to find it because I noticed a couple of things that I overlooked when installing the floor onto the chassis that'll help with body/chassis alignment later. Those are fixed as well. As of this morning I was able to test fit the body and mark the hood for cuts later. One more primer coat and this'll be ready for paint.
The canvas is ready ! Ok its Picasso time
Nick.
Right? Hopefully that's sooner than later.
This is looking so cool.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. Fit this, fit that. Would you get some paint on already! Sheesh!
By the way, it's looking very good so far Joe.

Our couch is way too big for our little living room, but we just live with it. The roof still fits over the house. Those darned couches!
But seriously, good progress since last checkup, and that body surely does look good all primed there, Joe.
And good work figuring out the interference(s).
Thanks Lee, Joe and Greg!
I made the scribe marks for the hood opening this morning and have drilled out the dot-to-dot holes for the cut out so I'll get started on that tomorrow morning. I also shot the last coat of primer on this morning to make everything nice and uniform. I hope to get paint on this thing in the next few days after I get the hood cut-out finished and all primed up.
Looking fwd to the paint job for sure, Joe.
Thanks Greg! I picked up the paint today. We'll see how it all turns out.
I've got the black on as of this morning........
The first pic has been lightened a little to show the detail while the second one is unaltered to show the correct shade. In any case............she's black:
SWEEET!! Looks like you laid down one beautiful, smooth and slick coat of paint. It turned out fantastic Joe. Now, that must feel like some major progress.
oooh, now that's smoot. All that prep work paying off....
Thank you Joe and Greg! I'm happy so far. Gonna let this cure out for a while!
nice like a copier drum !
Thanks Nick! I see you've got you're GB badge dilema figured out.
Yes I had to remove the 2015 badge it wouldn't let me update anything with in place
Gimme a couple of days and I'll get some sort of tutorial posted for you on that. It took me asking a computer guroo at work to get mine all straightened out a few years ago. Now it's a snap.
I managed to get some bonus bench time in tonight and got the hood opening cut out for the dual quads. Here we are all drilled...
and then cut out..........
Lots of clean up left to do just on the hood. The molding process on these bodies and related parts is nothing short of sloppy. Revell gets my vote on this one.
It didn't help things when I cracked the hood at the very back. That's currently being handled though.
Got the gloss coat on this morning. When I initially started spraying the gloss coat what seemed like the perfect horrorific nightmare was unfolding as I saw nothing but bubbles. I all but resolved myself to a treatment in Purple Power or brake fluid when all the sudden all of bubbles just went away and left me with this:
.
With the reflection of my camera and hand in the gloss finish I couldn't help but snap a couple of shots off:
Wow what kind of clear did you use
The "secret weapon" that my good compadres from Mexico advised me to use at the last show. Model Master "Wet Look" in spray can form.

I have the same stuff in 1/2oz bottels thats some thick stuff.
You've got that right! It levels great though.
crown r n7 I have the same stuff in 1/2oz bottels thats some thick stuff.
The stuff in 1/2 oz bottles is just Testors laquer, not the Wet Look clear, diffrent formula. And it is intended for brushing, thus the thickness. It can be thinned for airbrushing however. Looking great! That is a nice off the can finish. What black did you use?
Thanks Lee! I used MM One Coat Lacquer in the spray can as well. I did an airbrush job on my 56 Ford F-100 and was not as happy with the outcome as I am this one.
I should use my reading glasses lol what I have is Boyd high gloss clear enamel and testors top coat clear enamel still good stuff
