1/25 Mad Max V-8 Interceptor build.

This was a lot of fun!

This is the Aoshima 1/25 Road Warrior version of Max's Ride.

What I did...

I scratch built/added more detail to the interior of the car.

I weathered the car to reflect the film car.

This was an original issue, so years later I obtained the correct rear wheels, the original wheels that were issued were the same as the front wheels.

What a fantastic job! Got to be honest though, that was one ugly car that the studio chose to use as the base vehicle! Yuck Dead

Ah, the Falcon XB. The last of the V8 interceptors!! Very nice work on a kit that is really hard to come by. I've been wanting one and can't seem to find any. Very well done.

nonsense! the film studio put that hideous nose cone on it. without it, a funky Mustang can be found.

I used a 71 Mach 1 mustang years ago to scratch build one of these cuz they look so much like these. The MM car is way cool, just wish that kit wasn't so darned expensive. I may have to scratch one up again from another mustang.

Falcon XB is a good looking car, even Max'd out.

I thought Max's car looked pretty darned good, and matched the movie perfectly.  It looked brutal and menacing.  I saw "The Road Warrior" in 1982 or so, but didn't see "Mad Max" until it aired on TV a number of years later.  I also tried to convert an MPC Mustang Mach-1, but failed miserably.

When Aoshima re-released their model, I noticed in addition to the wheels, they extensively reworked the interior to be more faithful to the movie car.  But I wonder - was the 8 pipe exhaust really just two actual pipes and six fakes?

Probably fake. Much of the studio filming car was fake (as in non-functional), most famously the supercharger, which was reportedly constructed of cardboard and paper mache.

You know, some day, someone will figure out how to make an engine run through a non functioning blower and with the flip of a switch a magnetic clutch engages the blower and blammo, movie magic. But, NOS is cheaper and easier. Just doesn't have that WOW factor.
