Well, I finally finished this kit. I started this build in April and finished it in the last week of June. A lot of things got in the way of finishing this kit sooner. One of which was my poor judgement of trying tp remove the paint from the driver's door by soaking the door in lacquer thinner. The result was a red blob of dissolved plastic. Tamiya provided a replacement door at no cost to me.
I have worked on many 1/24 scale cars. I can say that this kit was the most challenging to build. It has over 150 parts (that's a lot of parts for a 1/24 scale model. I also purchased a couple of Tamiya Detail-Up parts upgrades including PE parts and carbon fiber decals. The body was painted in Tamiya rattle can Italian Red and Gloss Black.
The engine is visible through a clear plastic window in the engine hood.
The engine hood is operable, thus providing a nice view of the detailed engine bay. Carbon fiber decals dress-up the engine compartment.
The doors operable and provide a nice view of the detailed cockpit.
The kit includes soft rubber tires and nice looking wheels.
This is not a small "sport's car". It's larger than a Camero.

I'm doing the yellow version of this car, same kit. It's a bear to finish assemble. I have it on hold until I'm in the mood. It's a fantastic kit and I have the P/E, but one has to be in the right frame of mind to do a kit with this level of detail, and get it right.

I imagine that would be a challenge in 1/24.

If the model wasn't so difficult to build I would build another one and paint it all black. Hmmm, maybe that would be a good Winter project.

I thought you said a Car model. That thing looks like a "Jump Fighter" from the Science Fiction series I am reading. With Wheels! That is one awesome and intruiging looking automobile.
But, back to my first comment, That Car is probably the wildest thing on wheels I've seen since the Lincoln Futura( Circa1956-7) Now the Poor thing looks terrible as a BatMobile Wanna-Be! Don't let that happen to this beauty!
Tamyia did a great job on the kit. All the parts fit properly and the unusual operation of the doors work corretly.
First of all, this car is not street legal and it is not approved to be driven in any race event. The car costs about $2.8 million and you, as the owner, cannot take it home with you. The car is kept and maintained by Ferrari in a Ferrari garage. The owner of the car can drive the car on a Ferrari approved "track day event". On a "track day event" Ferrari will ship your car to a race track, such as Road Atlanta, and you can drive your car around the race track with other Ferraris. At the end of the day, Ferrari will ship the car back to their garage. It is a true toy for the super rich.
The car has a V12 engine and a "kinetic energy recovery system". The KERS system stores energy when the car brakes. The stored energy can be used, along with the V12 engine, during acceleration. The combined power is about 1,036 horsepower and the car has a top speed of 217 miles per hour.
Yeah, owning one of these is like paying for season tickets to a really expensive sports team - you give them an immense amount of money and they let you use them for that team's home games and that's it. Of course, there are few places you could drive them to the limit even if they were street legal - maybe interstates in the west of North America, or the Autobahns (before they started being speed limited).
For that Money I'de buy a Koenisegg and call it a day...and drive it when I want.
