Gnomes gain eyeballs and some facial detail via Mig brown wash.

Ohhh, very cool Bitbite- the skin tones look really good and they've got that steely glint in their eyes..

Thanks. I was going for scary rather than jovial. I'm probably going to make the whites of the eyes a bit bloodshot, etc. I want them to make me not be able to sleep for fear they might come alive during the night and kill me.
Haha, wow great idea and build and paint!

Thanks, guys. My weekend starts tomorrow so I should be able to get some more done on them. I think a beard wash is next on the agenda . . . I mean in the painting sense of course . . .
My .50 cal gnome was shipped with only one leg of the tripod so I made the other two from dowels and Krazy Glued them on. Added a wash of Model Master Flat Gull Gray to the beards and eyebrows, started painting their belts, glued on Helmut's hand and M16.
Thanks Bitbite- these guys are going to end up stalking me in my nightmares...
Well, this one should increase your nightmares . . . Carlos has ammo now. And a painted tripod. Also a little Mig wash on the uniform folds. Gave Helmut a uniform wash too but he didn't have many areas to work with so I didn't include him in this post.
More disturbing is the fact that no one has operated that saw to Carlos' left in several days yet there's fresh sawdust all around and I just happened to find him out there this afternoon. He was inside last time I saw him . . . . sleep tight!
Pretty awesome Bitbite! Glad they're on the West coast- still I'm going to block off the doggie door...
shoulda blocked it after those Gremlins fell in the pool...........
Carlos sits in the window awating a thunderstorm with painted ammo and a new barrel . . . it appears sideways in my preview, hopefully it won't post that way.
Sprue-ce Goose shoulda blocked it after those Gremlins fell in the pool...........
Think the neighbor's cat ate all the Gremlins, not sure how he'd fare against a gnome with a machine gun though.
Looks awesome Bitbite- that should keep the burglers away!
Ok, so I did some touch up on the gnomes, painted Helmut's belt buckle and Carlos' ammo. Not worrying about the bases as they will be covered with garden dirt. All that's left is to build their defenses and flat clear coat them before I take the final pictures of them in their natural habitat for final photos.
Nothing says 'GET OFF MY LAWN' more than than heavily armed gnomes...
Those antisocial squirrels will stay out of the bird feeder with all of that fire power around. LOL
Seriously there are a lot of garden gnomes on Google including some that are armed but none of them are this cool.
So here are the CGGs in their natural habitat . . . the backyard battlefield. Initially I was going to build a sandbag emplacement for them, then I thought maybe a log bunker made of Lincoln Logs, but none were to be found. Then I spotted this nice rock formation that provides adequate cover and a nice field of fire for the .50 cal that covers the entire backyard. Unfortunately, the rocky terrain prevented the use of the small punji stakes that I planned on placing in front of them. Plus I don't think my wife liked the idea . . .
Looks like they are ready for an ambush !

Almost cold enough for snow 'round here..................
,,,,,,,,,,,did ya make winter camo capes for 'em ( if you get snow, that is.....)
I hadn't thought of that but it's an excellent idea. When the snow comes I'll cut up an old t-shirt for ponchos. I also need to sprinkle some spent .22 casings around the MG as they look to be about the perfect scale for it.

Good to see them all dug in a ready for action BitBite!
Just please keep them under control!
The horrors !
I've heard those pink lawn flamingos are an endangered species, too !
