Ever wish you could see a model of a movie scene?

Since TCM is busy celebrating Memorial day, quite a few "movie moments" have been on the air.

Another good movie for figures/dio would be The Devil's Brigade.  The capture of the Italian town offers many opportunities for modeling to "movie real."

Stik I do that every year..The sad thing is there is more and more Flags every year. Sorry I didnt get a chance today to do the pics and tomorrow is my hometowns big parade and I'll be out all day at the Legion setting up and all. Maybe tomorrow night.

Haven't done any Dio's based on film scenes but I have done several in the pass based on Bill Mauldin 'Willie and Joe' my favorite being the Stug-III sitting on top of their foxhole while Willie is calling for artillary.

This is a scene from "Battle of Britain" I would love to see modeled. It's very tongue in cheek from near the ending of the movie...

John, that is the most proper way I can think of to commemorate this holiday. My hat is off to you for that. Thank you for honoring the fallen.

Stik,no I haven't I'll have to load them to photobucket they are on my Face book page I'll do that tonight as I have more time. I'm about to head out and put Flags on graves with my American Legion.

Thanks Stik,I'll have to keep an eye on Ebay. I built the Bravo 6 Col. Kirby figure and Barnes from Platoon.Nice figures and really look like the actors.

JT, as far as I know the Beachmaster figure is OOP, and has been for many years. I found mine on Ebay.

Oh, and one of  the ultimate "movie scenes" would be the one from the Green Berets, with the sun setting off the east coast of Viet Nam . . .

The Aldo Ray scene where he's enumerating all the ComBloc weaponry used would be cool, though--if with a bunch of work cobbling up all the civilians.

The War Corespondents would be something to work up, along with the Sean Connery figure.

Is that figure easy to get? I tried Google and came up empty handed..

Apparently the dog was really a Shepherd, but of course that wouldn't do in a movie where the Germans are the bad guys.

And the shillelagh used was the real deal from D-Day.

One of the earlier posters hit on the real trick to this subject, which is accurately getting all the things right that were wrong in the movie.

That would be Beach Master Colin Maude from "The Longest Day",never saw that figure before and always wanted to build a dio of him hitting the Bren Carrier.....

Another good candidate for this idea is almost anything from the movie "Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow". That flying aircraft carrier is sweet! And don't forget his P-40 and the Amphibious Squadron.

Bogie's M3 Lulubelle from Sahara would be cool.  The M2 half track pretending to be a '251 would be cool, too.  With significant opportunity for kit bashing figures.

The PT's from They Were Expendable would be good.  Plenty of scenes to gin up; towing the boats; transporting "The General"; the PT crews as ad hoc infantry.

"1941" offers up some eye-catching possibilities--a P-40  crashed into a theater; the M-3 tank in the street, or along the board walk by the amusement park.  The 40mm scene worth it just as a reason to get the HR Bofors <g>.

The painted carrier deck runway from "30 Seconds Over Tokyo" would be cool, and with several atypical figures needed, too.

The bunker from "Pork Chop Hill" has been on my list of coulda-woulda-shoulda.  Also the temple from "Steel helmet."

The helo rescue from Bridges of Toko-Ri--although the brig green tophat could be tricky..  

The cargo ship from "Mister Roberts" has always been on my list to cobble up.  As is doing a side-by-side mooring of the ship used in "The Caine Mutiny" and the ship it is supposed to represent.

The B-52 tail scene in Apocalypse Now would be cool, but I don't know if they have a PBR and BUFF in corresponding scales. And the "arrival at the compound" and "Do Long bridge" scenes would be great.

Here's an idea that would push any modeler's skills to the brink ....... The scene in Avatar when their taking down Home Tree. Tons of foliage, major scratchbuilding of the various aircraft ...Wow.

I doubt I'll ever try to tackle that whole dio but I am currently gathering components to eventually, one day, scratch build a SA-2 Samson from Avatar.

I plan to paint it up like the pilot, Trudy, had hers in the end when she was fighting on the side of the natives. I am keeping my eyes open for some cheap Osprey, Huey and Blackhawk kits to bash for potential SA-2 parts.

always fancied doing the scene in 'get carter' (original british caine, not stallone) when he comes out of the house stark naked with double barrell shotgun.  excellent scene in film, funny, scary, bit nuts.  also numerous scenes from goodfellas also.  interesting question.  like it!!!!
