Thank you Steve!.

And you too, Tony!!!!

I appreciate your comments! Big Smile [:D]

Here;s the final display case--I cut out the logos from the box and sticky-taped them to the insides. The mirror finish lets you see the underside.

Great work Karl! The finish is truly "doog-worthy" and makes this aged kit stand out. I like your display case too...IMO the 'glass and mirror' design-style aligns itself with futuristic motifs and therefore adds to the presentation. Thumbs Up [tup]Thumbs Up [tup]

Cheers

I was looking at my eagle yesterday.

I was setting up to rebuild the forward and aft sections of the passenger module as well as the engine assembly plumbing.

However I think I will follow doogs steps insted and go more OTB with it.

Doog, what did you think of the decals that you ordered for you eagle?

Are they any good and where did you find them?

You got a telegram from headquarters today. Headquarters--what is it? Well, it's a big building where generals meet, but that's not important right now. [ img] f_armorsecretm_ac7eb73[/ img]

Thank you for the compliments, Brad!!! Smile [:)]

Russianfist--I got the decals from eBay. They're actually NOT "decals"--they're "stickers" that you have to cut out yourself--which can be a PITA, to be honest, but they're the only game in town as far as I could tell. They go on a bit thick, but I think they look ok, don't you? Otherwise, you'd have to print your own.

There IS a guy who sells actual decals that he prints out--the link is in this thread, I think? But when I went to his website, it said he was not acceptingorders until he had printed out and filled all his back orders--that sounded like trouble to me, so I went with the stickers.

Thanks for looking in and your comments!

FYI everyone, Round 2 will be re-issuing the Space 199 kits late 2013.

Also, IF and I repeat IF the sales of the other space 1999 kits are sufficient, Round 2 might consider doing a 22" Eagle kit in injection styrene that is accurately based on the hero 44" Eagle. There might be a few slight cheats to make it "kitable" but they would keep all of the proportions and major details as close to 100% accurate as metal tooling will allow. Keep in mind, this is not set in stone. The tooling would cost a bundle, and the license needs to pay for itself, SO, .....and I want to stress that nothing is guaranteed.... only if you guys do your part in helping the re-pops sell well first would they CONSIDER doing the 22" model. So, if you want this to happen we must all do our part to re-spark interest in the old kits, even that Alien one. As for the Hawk, well, it sounds like Airfix might have the tool for that one. Round 2 said they will be looking into that to see what the possibilities might be.

For more pix of Eagle and other buildups unrelated to Round 2,  you can look here:

Scroll down the page a bit and look for the Eagles etc.... then click on the pic for more details.

Never got into the 1999 series, Buck Rogers or Battlestar Galactica (couldn't help it, I kept seeing "Ben Cartwright").

I preferred the SF movies of the 50's and 60's and Star Trek .

Forbidden Planet........  BEYOND AWESOME.

Then why did you reply and include my entire message again, pictures and all, and reiterate it? Too bad you took my post as the opposite of what is meant by it. I'm not "advertizing" it, I'm just informing people of what was announced at Wonderfest so they can get also get the kit that you are building without having to pay collectors' prices. I'm not an employee of R@ or anything and I am not advertizing for them. I just thought people would like to know of the upcoming re-release, and posting it on a forum with a build of the very kit should be considered informative. What kind of an idiot would slam someone who simply delivers relevant information? Are you upset that your ego wasn't stroked or something?

Sheeesh, James---I quoted it to make the point that the response was to YOU, specifically. It's "what we do" here, James. If you had joined this forum for any other purpose than to promote a commercial product---explicitly against the stated rules of this forum, by the way--you might have known that, For what it's worth, YES-you quite accurately ARE "advertising" it. Sorry to rain on your parade, but it's quite clear.

You also ventured to add a link to your website, which explicitly states on the page which you linked to: "After viewing the models in the gallery below, you can see more on the EIMB "Model Building and Finishing Services" page, and throughout the Small Art Works web site.  The examples you see here represent the kind of work you can expect if you have  a model custom built especially for you, here at Small Art Works!" --so you are once again advertising services which will profit you?....by using MY post? Bang Head Would it be too much to ask you to send me a small commission on your future work? Seriously, I'll "forget the whole thing" buddy! Toast

Lastly--it's simply common courtesy on this forum to comment or at least acknowledge a modeler's work if you post on their posts. I did a lot of work correcting and modifying this model, and have left the posts and photos here as a guide and inspiration to other modelers. If it makes me "egotistical": to at least expect a nod to the contribution and time that I've made here and to the model that I have produced----especially when you're opportunistically using my post here to advertise your products and services--, then you go right ahead and brand me that. James. I don't have a problem with that.

Listen, man--you do nice work on your models on your site. And it's nice to know that the Eagle is going to be produced again. I'm sure that will make a lot of people happy, me included--especially if it's a more detailed and accurate version than the AMT version. But it would have been nice to at least get a nod to the work I did here after you posted your work and services in my thread without so much as a word of recognition of my work.Something tells me you'd feel the same way were the situation reversed, James. Whistling The least you could do would be to stop denying that. Smile

My apologies if I misread you. You're not a familiar poster, so I don't know your online personality.

I both appreciate and utilize sarcasm myself.....I also comment on other peoples' posts when they put in good work. Wink

Seriously, send me one of those new Eagles when it comes out for the advertisement here, and we'll call it even Big Smile

Wow Karl- another well-done piece from your workbench. Yes Thanks for another toot on mods and corrections. I'm yet another of the masses who had this kit as a kid; I love the 'Eagle.'

I saw a few episodes of the show when it was airing but never became a huge fan. Maybe I'll have to check it out again on DVD after I get through my nostalgia phase with 'Emergency' Wink
