For grins I pulled the Disney movie and I found some interesting things...

Duh. The iris was in the Disney version all along! 

It was in the attack scene when I got the idea of the green light.

The lighting is much more green on the TV screen. The camera knocked it down.

Based on what I found, the green lighting I had in mind is in line with the Disney version. Not that it matters following a loosely based connection to it.

    Hader was great in that! I am just sad it took so long to get that little bit. But, I did get James Mason through that! The most I ever got for Audiences was a long run in the city where I lived, Community Little Players, as Don Vito Corleone, but, unlike Brando I didn't need the Cotton Jowls.

      Is that your post about the Swivel blades? I bought the one that doesn't swivel here, In New Braunfels, But no one short of Micro - Mark carries the replaceable Blades! I mean, If you're gonna sell a product with replaceable parts, Sell the parts too! Is that too much to ask?

       Your sub would probably have more of that Gator Quality in a forward incoming view. The Harper Goff Design might've required some photo trickery because of the conning tower. I think that was done that way because they thought folks were too stupid to realize Nemo's machine was a sub!

Lol. Good to know he does dishes too! He is a hard worker but as you see in the video, he misses a lot of spots.

I worked on the exterior lighting and the assembly that they go into. 

Testing this and testing that I decided to use the kit supplied lenses and mount LEDS behind them. I flirted with not using them and have the LED act as the lens. In the end, I decided it would not look good.

You can see that I again used Evergreen tubing as the LED holder. It works great because it melts nicely to the kit assembly. Not shown in the images I have painted light blocking black as well. I am using craft paint for that. 

The gator eyes at the bridge will use green LEDS. I am thinking to use green in these as well. My thought is to have them on the same circuit through a switch that can be toggled on and off, separate from the parlor. The gator eyes glowed green when in the attack mode, and I thought it might enhance the boat having the exterior lighting glow green as well. If would differentiate them from the parlor lighting.

So, I just need to solder and install the LEDs, feed the wiring through the hull, and then glue the assemblies in place. After that it's off to Nemos bridge. 

Capn, good to hear you are a Hader fan. My exposure is mostly from YouTube and from when he was on Saturday Night Live. The man is dang talented. I will need to search out the work you mentioned.

Hader is incredible.  Most of my experience with his talent was through Venture Bros and ATHF But, where he really caught my attention was in Barry.  (And a series with Steve Root and Henry Winkler starts off pretty good.)

Those windows came out really nicely.

I used Alclad Brass for the base coat. Out of the bottle the paint is extremely bright, and not the look that I want. So, I grunged it. I applied a dusting of MRP black. The black gave me a sort of antique brass, and that is what I was looking for. The whole thing then was sealed with MRP Semimatt. 

The masks for the most part did ok. There were a few that pulled up a bit. I feared that because the adhesive is not all that good. For that reason, I made sure to not flood the piece with paint. Dusting it on was the order of the day. The nice thing about these masks is the stiffness of them. It made removing them a fairly simple task. Speaking of adhesive, there was cleanup to do on the glass. 

So, those are done and I guess it's back to lighting. I need to sort out the remaining lights.

Well said, TB. Mason is a great actor. You'll know it's a good movie if he is in it. 

BTW. Speaking of talent. Have you seen Bill Haders Impersonation of Mason? It's a hoot. He impersonates a number of actors, really well. This guy is talented.       I have seen Robert Ryan act and to me a better choice would've Lorne Greene! At least he had the look! and the Facial motions too!

 This little animated Old looking sketch, reminds me of the kind of windows A strange looking model of the Nautilus has. I think it is a "Snap" kit! It came along as a part of a trade in a model show! The side windows are more oval and smooth and look like shallow observation Bubbles on a coast guard Aircraft to me!

 

You know what is funny? TCM had a couple of Nemo movies on recently and I DVRd them. One was called, Captain Nemo and The Underwater City. I don't recall the other one just this second. I watched the aforementioned movie last night. Chuck Conners was in it and Nemo was played by Robert Ryan. In my opinion, not a great movie, but it entertained me enough to where I didn't turn it off. Though, I did fast forward a long section of underwater diving and such. That was overdone and boring to me.

They had a window in the movie more oval. I am still looking for the one that opens and closes like a camera lens shutter. Maybe that will be in the other movie I have not watched yet.

   That's a lot of tiny windows. Now, have you tried the Liquid masks at all? I use to use the early "Pink" colored liquid mask on Planes!

 

I still use the stuff but it's relegated to filling gaps over tape masks and such, and only when it is not in direct contact with paint. But... all that said... that is just me.

Dunno, that's both small, and finicky.

I'm guessing I'd have my frisket mask swivel cutter out.  Then, have to go drive 22 miles downtown to go get a five-pack of new sharp replacement blades.  And then, still want for another 5x of magnificationgetting clean demarcations on the liquid masking.

All the while wondering if it would be worth getting the beast 3d scanned so as to make a 3d print of just the frame . . .   [o_O]

Which would lead to thinking about the "movie studio" solution to gazing--they omit it so the glare won't "print."

And, then I'd be so mentally strung out, I'd just sit in my chair with the dog and an adult beverage wondering how a week had elapsed . . . Sigh.

The masking looks great Bakster! I know what you mean when you have to cut every friggin' piece down to size. But it's still better than trying to cut them out from masking tape...

Hey, TB... it is 60 panes per main window, 120 total for the two. 26 total for the two gator eyes.

Applying them would not be that bad if I did not need to trim each mask. Sadly, they did a poor job sizing them. But, hey, they are better than nothing. I can get them fairly close to decent. I would not want to cut masks from scratch for this. That would be a nightmare.

I hope to have these painted by the weekend.
