I am currently working on the Atlantis Models release of the Skipjack Oyster Boat. Can any of you that have previously built this model tell me how you fitted/glued the sails to the booms? The bottom of the sails are not what you could call flat by any means, so, I am looking for sugestions on how best to get this done.
The foot of the sail is tied to the boom with a line that zig zags up and down from mast to the end of the boom alternating between eyes in the sail and what appear to be eyebolts (small) along the top of the boom.
There's a clear space between the boom and the foot of the sail.
Most pictures I've looked at show the boom to be long. thin and flexible. Bowed upwards would be normal.

Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
Thank you Bill, but, I am looking for tips on how to attach the actual model pieces of the furled sails to the booms. Perhaps I need to include a photo later on.
Ah, I see. Picture of the bottom of the sail blob might be useful.
Can you cut a slot in it? Or cut off the end of the boom and glue it to the blob?
I came across this, which doesn't answer your question but it's entertaining.

Hmmm.
This can be problematic. Is it the old plastic piece that was present over forty years ago? Or did they change it? I took my last one and used real cloth(IrishLinen handkerchief, and tied it down(Secured it) as I saw on actual SkipJacks.
Big Jim,
I recently purchased this kit and I'll be following your build closely. After seeing the photos posted by GMorrison, I wish that Atlantis/Lindberg/Pyro would have included sails with the kit. That boat is beautiful with the sails unfurled and underway.

Here are the pieces that I am speaking of. The bottom of the sails are wavy side to side and undulating up and down not leaving a lot of surface in order to glue the pieces together.

For me I use thread in that situation.
I am debating on my Lucia Simpson whether to have sails furled or set. I have beautiful pictures of the ship both furled and set, so it is a hard choice. One picture has it with red sails, and I am now also trying to decide whether to go with the red or light tan.
I have not built it yet, though I am about to start. The sail would be fastened to mast with series of metal rings. A line from top corner of sail would go through a block on top of mast, and down to belayng fixture. The aft corner would be fastened to a short line on a fitting at end of boom.
