MM, tell Tuk he did a good job, nothing really fancy but a nice "out of the box" project on both models. The decal work is the main problem I have with them, a little too glossy and "Emden" is crooked. The problem with ship models in these smaller scales is that masts and antennae are usually way out of scale and need aftermarket treatment. But, all in all, good work.

Nice work.  I really like the LCAC.  I've taken a good number of rides on LCAC's when I was with the 15th MEU(SOC).  How was the build?  About how big is the model?

LCACs are a lot of fun. My son is a gator freighter sailor and occasionly I'll go on a short cruise with him. His LSD carries LCACs and when they are out doing excersises, they'll take a few passengers out for rides. It is a unique experience.

He was on the Tortuga when I rode with him, he's on the Whidby Island right now. My daughter in law was on the Gunston Hall and the Saipan. She's on the Nassau now. My youngest son is going to go destroyers when he goes in in April. My daughter is married to a Marine. I've been with the Navy since 1972.

Seems like everyone is out on ship.  You guys ever see each other?Smile [:)]  The Fort McHenry (LSD-43) is a Whidbey Island class LSD.  I wish someone would come out with a model of it.

There isn't much of a demand for amphibs, unfortunately.

Even worse is the lack of demand for the non-combatants, like the tankers and cargo ships and small surface craft ... there is a grand total of ONE 1/700 Victory ship model kit that I am aware of. Boohoo [BH] But I digress. Nice builds, except for the decals, gotta remember to dull coat those after you put them down.

Thanks for all kind comments and responses!

subfixer, these are 1:144 scale ships and you call them 'smaller scale'. I wonder what's the 'bigger scale' for ships, 1:35? . ;-) (well, the next one I'll show will be a 1:35 sub)

usmc1371, most new kits from Trumpeter are good to build, no fitting problem and this LCAC comes with PE. The length is about 6-7 inches.
