Not my work! It's by Rob Wiederrich, and yes, he's amazing. He weathers as he goes. You can see it on earlier progress photos. Rob, what will you use for sawdust or shavings?
I weathered the CS adequately, as I build her and the ways are weathered even more to depict heavy use.
Rob
I use saw dust........filtered. It is taken from my band disk sander.....Fine dust.....I use natural materials as much as I can...and diluted wood glue to secure it. I also keep prepped wood out in the shop..so it can weather naturally........I want it to look natural if I can. I have some wood that has been weathering for years...just for this purpose.
Well...got a few more images of new work.
Added some more to the anvil and forge area. Notice the tiny forceps

Forward stay and the double bulleyes. I used the existing bulleyes and cutt off the plastic rope and rigged them with hooks and ran new rigging.

Oh and one more cuz I'm bored........:)
Fabulous work Rob. I am learning so much from your posts. How do you wrap your forestays? It looks like they were actually tarred!
Dave
Thanks Dave..well I shop around and try to find good quality *rope*..I use pre waxed woven string that I find in inport stores...namely from India. It is used for making high end necklaces and bracelets. It is very realistic as seized line and I fasten all my seizing ends with CA then paint everything over with grimy flat black paint....as you've noticed...when done it appears to be tarred and seized...just as it aught to. Thanks for noticing.
Now off to work on some shrouds..working the foremast shrouds and lanyard.
Another angle
Closeup......I rigged the center one first, then alternated. 5 shrouds are easy to do in pares...once you do the center one first.
Wide view........
I do one then paint on grimy black...then do anther and so forth and so on......
Foremast main shrouds and ratlines are finished
