Trumpeter USS Indianapolis CA-35 1945

Nice choice. I'm in a group build now, but once I'm finished with that, I'll be building my ship. Are you making this as a full hull or waterline build? I'm making mine as a waterline; I just can't see a ship out of water.

I will really enjoy following a long this build.

this should be good , are going to do a diorama ?

I personally like the way Trumpeter do their Hulls now instad of the waterline option with that shocking red lower Hull. Off to a nice start.....Cheers Mark

I have the deck glue into place . I finished step 3 and started on step 4

I added some Photo Etch . It really help the look out . I should bought the photo etch detail kit for this model .

I got new Photo Etch kit for this ship . Its been interesting working on this mast . Looks better

You're doing a fine job on the PE!

Just make sure to think about the order of attaching the photo etched material .. escpecially the railings - although there shouldn't ever be any problem with a little forethought. I, however, have managed to make trouble for myself more than once while building kits when my brain has not served to anticipate the easiest progression in the build.

Great job so far. I have the 1944 version and am looking forward to your posts.

It really looks great rick. How will you paint it? Spray the blue deck from above & the side gray from below. That is a great idea to glue it together first. My I-58 is the AKV too. Real nice kit.

Really nice work. I too struggle with some of the PE bits, but overall, I think they add greatly to the build. Some of the really tiny and fiddly bits, I just take "old guy's" liscense and don't use them.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but I do have a question for 1943 Mike.

What is your preferred order of assembly progress? I'm doing the Missouri in 1945 with a Pontos aftermarket, and have already gotten into trouble in places.
