1/96 Crew Figures
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, June 16, 2003 9:16 AM
I am making a 1/96 scale model of a WWII US DE; I need to populate the model with some crew figures and have been unsuccessful so far finding anything suitable.

Can anybody offer any ideas?

1/96 scale is also referred to as 1/8" scale and is fairly common fro R/C ships. Try www.steelnavy.com or Model Shipyard for starters.

Hi Mango,

The Revell kit of the Consitution and Cuty Sark, uses 1/96th scale men. With a small bit of work , there are enough poses you could get them to work just right,

Email me off BB with your address, I have hundreds of them I send you a container full.

Hi Mongo,

Welcome to the wacky world of 1/96 scale! When you get a chance, take a peek at my website, listed below...

In addition to the sources listed above, Plastruct sells a set of 1:100 scale civilians that looks like it has potential. Dean's Marine sells lead cast 1/96 scale royal navy types. IMAI made two add on sets for the 1:100 scale Nippon Maru Model the used to sell - one was crew manning the yard, the other, more useful set had deck crew in various poses. Lastly, Micro Machines (now owned by Hasbro) had a set, number 22, called the "Men at Work Collection" that has some perfect figures that required repainting and minimal conversion to be perfect deck crew.

Hope this helps
