Although that Polar Bear looks nice, I don't think I wan't to go up that high. I also noticed the Polar Bear 2000, is that pretty much the same thing as the DA400? Also, i wasn't able to find it on their site, but do you know where the Polar Bear compressors are made? Thanks again for helping me out on this!

Always remember, we can spend someone else's money very easily. Big Smile Not that we would lead you astray, it just isn't our money. I think any of these compressors will provide enough air to run your airbrush, I just prefer one with a tank. It gives you a reserve to work with, eliminates any pulsing, acts as a moisture trap.

I only know that the BearAir, Paasche and TCPGlobal are all made in China. But I have seen no specific manufacturer's name. All of them have good customer service. I will be willing to take a chance with any of their offer and hope that they exercise good quality control.

If I were to spend my own money, I will put it on the Sparmax TC-2000. I can actually drive down to a Hobby Lobby store in 10 minutes and bring one home. It gives me the peace of mind knowing that I get a quality machine.

All these little oilless job relies on a thin teflon coating between the piston and cylinder wall to keep it working well. They all work reasonably well when new. But the better one has more precision machining to keep it run longer.

I was able to find the Sparmax TC2000 for 199, i dont live anywhere near a Hobby Lobby unfortunatleySad. I found it on a site called Rex Art supplies- http://www.rexart.com/product11941.html is this a very good deal, or is the extra 50 or so on this over the Paasche DA400 really worth it?

It is $199 vs. $177, both with free shipping. "is the extra 50 or so on this over the Paasche DA400 really worth it?" Only you can answer the question.

To me, I like the better known quality and the extras:

  • Remote moisture trap
  • Airbrush hanger
  • Airbrush adapters
  • Spare intake filter
  • Straight braided airline
  •

Since you already got a Badger airbrush. Beware that Badger uses proprietary connection thread that is not compatible with the industrial standard that everybody else use. Be sure to order a "Badger to Iwata adaptor" for the airhose unless you already have a Badger hose which should work fine with the Sparmax compressor.

I like my old style Paasche DA400. The new ones are same design, same spec, different supplier. You can search other feedback on the Paasche compressor too.

Do a search on Amazon for "Badger Anthem 155"  They have some on there under $50.  And the Anthem 155 is one of the best they make.

In the Hangar: 1/48 Hobby Boss F/A-18D RAAF Hornet,

On the Tarmac:  F4U-1D RNZAF Corsair 1/48 Scale.
