Passche VL air bubbles no paint
Posted by GasPasser on Saturday, February 12, 2022 8:46 AM

So I've had a VL for about 4 years. It has recently been giving me tons of air bubbles in the paint cup and not putting out any paint. im running 20psi, Vallejo air (I even thinned it a little, no help), #3 needle and nozzle. I went on Don's airbrush site and put a little chapstick on the nozzle and threads to no effect, and I've tightened the head down as much as i can w the wrench. Anyone have any further suggestions?

Hello!

This can happen in many ways, so it's really hard to say. I've had it happen to me when I installed a new nozzle/needle set in my VJR - after a few trys and lowering the air presuure a bit it went away. Basically for something like that to happen the air must be stopped from going out front of the airbrush - and then it has a tendency to go back along the paint line and out in the paint cup. Does this happen all the time or just after you pull the trigger back?

Is the nozzle housing clean? Maybe some dirt is blocking the way air is supposed to flow?

I hope you can sort this out - good luck and have a nice day

It could be your slip in paint tip is cracked. Or the mating surfaces worn, though the chapstick might have covered for that. If you have any other tip and needle sets try one of those and see if the bubbles go away. A clogged air cap will do it too.

Thanks for the replies, folks! I ordered a new set of needles/nozzles and heads, thst seems to have done the trick. I was worried I was going to have to buy A whole new airbrush, but its working great now. Thank you!

Yeah, I'm glad, too, that you could sort it out.

Spare part service is something that makes Paasche airbrushes great.

Second to non I'd say ! They sent me a #3 tip assembly for my H for free one time. And got it out same day I called them. Literally no charge, not even shipping. Mine is an HS kit with the screw mount cap for the jars mount to the body and I wanted a straight H #3 tip, had already bought a #1. I just leave the #5 with screw mount top mount leaving the cap attached to the body and unscrew the jar from the cap for a switch to another full jar. I don't do that kind of volume with the other tips.
