formation light on german armor...?
Posted by kermit on Friday, May 20, 2011 11:59 PM

Hey guys,

I have posted this question on my buildlog over at the armor section a few days ago but havent got an answer yet so ill try it here...

Appearantly i need to paint a so called "formation light" in a light blue color on the back of my Hetzer but Tamyia neglected to point out where it is in the instruction manual. And i don't know enough about german armor to have the answer ready myself.

Taking a look at this picture:

Is the thinghy circled in red this formation light? What part of it should be painted?

Im at a complete loss here.... A pic of your model would be really helpfulYes

Hi Richard,

I haven't built this kit, but I believe the convoy light is the cylindrical part (D66) which is attached to the T-shaped structure of the bracket on the left fender. (behind the exhaust pipe outlet in your pic). Refer to step 14 in your kit instructions.  This tubular part should be blue.

Howdy!

I'm no expert, but the german type light is pretty widespread around here. I found this photo on the internet:

Well on the top you have those four slots. If you see all four on the vehicle driving before you, you're too close. If you see only two, the distance is right. If you only see one, you're too far - that's how it works. I hope you can locate a similar piece of hardware on your tank, then you'll know how to paint it. Hope it helps, have a nice day

Hi Pawel,

I believe, in this particular case, we're looking at the later blue tubular convoy light rather than the type that you have suggested above.
