They look like US pattern trailers which for use by the AAF should be painted IIRC OD 41 Aircraft Olive, not US Army OD.  For early USAF use, they would be painted Insignia Yellow.  For USN and USMC use, they might have been red.  Depends on who used them.

OK, while you're still not vvery specific I understand we're talking about airfield equipment. In such case, the concern that it might be targeted by the enemy is far less than a concern that a taxiing aircraft might overlook and hit one - so they are painted to be easily seen by everybody. If the enemy gets close enough to the airfield to see it, he already has enough clues, camouflaging small equipment wouldn't help. Good luck with your project, have a nice day

I purchased this kit, in hopes that I would use it someday,( the day has come) but the instruction say to paint it red with a yellow band around the fuel & oil tanks. I cannot believe they were painted in those two colors during WWII! The carts would be easily spotted and targeted.  Does anyone have a reference photo of this fuel & oil tank carts? I surfed  many sites for a picture of these carts, to NO LUCK.          Thank you in advance
