B-24 pics
Posted by Anonymous on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 3:45 PM
I am in search of some decent pics of a B-24D wing without the engine.

I am preparing to build the Lady Be Good, as she would have been prior to discovery in the desert. The #4 engine is gone and took everything from the firewall (I believe it's called that) onward with it.

I have a few pics from web sites about the Lady and B-24 in general but they are too grainy to work with as a ref. to scratch the details in a somewhat correct manner.

Thanks for any help you can offer

Here's what I could find. I tried enlarging a shot of the e Lady Be Good I found on the web. But, the photo quality wasn't good enough.

There's a post on this forum of another Lady Be Good model. Maybe you can plagerize?

PS: You will need to cut and paste thse links into your browser.

Here's another link - The Dragon and His Tail in the boneyard minus engines.

The only shot I could find on the web of the Lady Be Good's missing engine didn't look like it was torn off clear to the firewall. It looked like part on the engine was still attached. But, the phot was small, low res. So, I couln't enlarge it.

Good hunting....

I'm not sure. All the notes that I took when he was alive were burned up in a house fire several years before I came into the Navy (along with about 175 unbuilt kits!) I'm writing now to get a copy of his personnel record. That should shed a little more light. He flew in quite a few a/c when he was with the 5th AF, and changed units at least once. He also flew with some Aussies, which he admired a great deal.
