Big plane, big project: Ron scratchbuilt this 1/32 scale PBM-3D, covering formers, ribs, and stringers with sheet styrene. He used cowlings and engines from Corsair kits and extended P-47 blades for the props. “The Catalina always gets the limelight,” Ron says, “but the Mariner saved more downed pilots. She’s not the best-looking boat in the fleet, but a great aircraft to model and research.”
