Danny Wheeler
Burt, Michigan
This Harley traveled a circuitous route to FSM: It was scratchbuilt by Danny, a machinist who made his own lathes and tools and spent more than 4,000 hours on it. Then, it was purchased by Todd Thorp and photographed by Doug Byron (both of Saginaw). Danny’s notes on the model describe it as “fully functional, with more than 700 pieces that can be disassembled and reassembled.” Doug says there’s an electric motor that spins the primary drive and turns the back wheel; the model also has working brakes, Springer front suspension, lights, and kick start. No one was sure of the scale, but with a 9.75" length, 7" wheelbase, and seat height about 3", we’ll guess about 1/8 scale.
