Don Poggemiller
Burlington, Iowa
Modeling the aircraft as new in early 1939, Don went
light on weathering, but otherwise gave Matchbox’s 1/32 scale Westland Lysander
Mk.I a heavy treatment of improvements and additions, including: a brass shaft
and boss for the engine, along with an ignition harness and oil-cooler ducts;
gunsights in the cockpit and on the cowling made from brass rod; opening the
carburetor scoop and installing brass radiator screen; opening the exhaust;
adding barrels for the Browning machine guns on the spats, along with jewels
for landing lights; details on the bomb rack; a wire harness for the instrument
panel; opening the starboard side of the pilot’s canopy; scratchbuilt seats and
belts; open wing slats and lowered flaps; and much more.
