Geoffrey reinforced Revell’s 1/48 scale P-51D Miss
America racer with brass tubing and piano wire so
his 2-year-old daughter would have an airplane to play with. “She loves
Virginia Tech’s Hokie Bird mascot, so my wife suggested painting the airplane
in those colors,” Geoffrey says. He traced the outlines on a frisket mask and
airbrushed with craft acrylics. “The propeller blades are sheet styrene and
styrene rod glued to the spinner with white glue so when – not if – they break
away, they will be easily replaced,” he says. “My daughter loves it!”
