Azur’s 1/48 scale kit provided Philipponnat with a Latécoère
298, a French World War II-era seaplane he greatly admires. “With its sleek
shape, I find it a lovely airplane,” he writes. He said the kit includes
plastic and resin parts. Going through an especially busy period in his life,
it took him four years to build, resulting in having to scratchbuild
replacements for lost parts. “I am entitled to the slowest builder award!” he
says.
