“Zvezda’s 1/144 scale 787 Dreamliner inspired me to pay tribute to Boeing’s
elegant new airliner (I’m a little biased here, as the Dreamliner is one of
favorite aircraft, alongside the P-51 Mustang.) I almost chickened out from
attempting Boeing’s factory scheme. I did use a little artistic license to
preserve my sanity, though! But I'm glad I persevered, as the scheme suits the
Dreamliner’s flowing lines and makes it a standout on my model shelf.” Anita
used Tamiya spray paints straight from the can for the main colors, with Alclad
II and Tamiya acrylics for bare-metal areas. “A ton of Tamiya masking tape was
used for the bulk of the masking,” she says, “with Mr. Finely Slit masking
strips for the cheat line and fuselage stripes. Thanks, FSM, for the tip in the kit review!” In addition to the
kit decals, Anita used silkscreen decals from FDecal for the doors, engine
spirals, windscreen frame, and stencils. The blade antennas and nacelle strakes
are scraps of photoetched metal.
