Rob Bianco
Orlando, Florida

Among the spectacular exhibits of the New York World’s Fair in 1964-65 was a scale model of the fairgrounds that was displayed in the American Express pavilion. It so inspired Rob, then 14, that he undertook his own internally lighted model of the fair. The teen’s work earned the admiration of local papers, American Express’ magazine, and even Robert Moses, head of the corporation that ran the fair. Eventually, the scale model went the way of all things — but Rob still has its 1/600 scale centerpiece, the U.S. Steel Unisphere.
