Boyd says the only things he added to Verlinden’s 54mm resin Confederate 8" Armstrong rifle were string for the bucket handles and wire for the powder charges. He used Tamiya and Testors Model Master paints and finished the mahogany carriage with raw umber artist’s oils. “I built this kit for two reasons,” he says. “First, to recognize the 150th anniversary of the start of the U.S. Civil War. Secondly, my local show had ‘Artillery’ as a theme this year, so I wanted to enter this. It won a gold medal.”
