Sean Hadfield, Madison, Wisconsin

Sean hitched a Verlinden resin ammo trailer to his Tamiya 1/35 scale HMC (Howitzer Motor Carriage) M8 Scott. He says, “I left the kit skirts off the HMC and cut back the fenders’ leading edges.” He dusted a light coat of tan over a base coat of Tamiya olive drab from a spray can. Chipped paint is represented by burnt umber applied with a torn foam pad to edges and corners. More burnt umber, black, and a touch of dishwashing detergent made up the wash. “For the rubber treads, I left the kit’s vinyl tracks unpainted,” Sean says, “but I painted metal parts with a raw umber and orange mix, then dry-brushed with silver. Then, I rubbed the tracks, grousers, and machine gun with a No. 2 pencil.”
