Drastic surgery transformed Monogram’s 1/48 scale PBY Catalina to a fire-fighting Super Catalina: Don cut the nose off and sculpted a replacement in Poxysculpt; rebuilt nacelles to mount engines from a B-25; used .015" solder for brake and fluid lines; and slowly turned clear sprue in a motor tool for navigation lights. “I built this as part of a group of planes that appear in the movie ‘Always.’”
