António Marranita, Trofa, Portugal

A 1/35 scale scratchbuilt schnellboot hull with this armament invites an explanation. António writes: “This model represents one of the possible variations of an armed German fast-boat prototype. Two were built in Hungary in 1944; one was left incomplete, the other was captured and became part of the Hungarian fleet. There is not much information about it, and no consensus on its weaponry.” So, he mounted a PzKpfw III turret (from Dragon’s Ausf G) and a Flakvierling (from Tamiya). Naval accessories from Cornwall grace the balsa wood hull. With no drawings or plans, “it all had to be interpreted and measured by hand,” says António, an IT engineer with three units to go for his Ph.D. in history.
