“Supporting the U.S. Army testing of weapon systems, I became very familiar with Soviet targets,” Mike says. He built Trumpeter’s 1/72 scale T-55, base-coating it with Testors aluminum plate and applying fine sand between that coat and an over-coat of Tamiya light green. After the paint dried, rubbing the sand off left chipped paint to depict hard wear. “It’s hard to see, but I scratched up behind the tracks along the tank body,” he says. “This area gets a lot of wear and tear from the tracks beating the hull during pivot turns.”
