Having completed Classic Airframes’ 1/48 scale Curtiss P-6E Hawk, Ed writes, “I’m building examples of single-seat, single-engine combat aircraft from each decade, starting with World War I. This is my addition from the 1920s. The project became quite involved, and at times I felt I was in over my head. I scratchbuilt two radiators with photo-etched screens, the instrument panel, gunsight, windshield, and the fuselage/wing “N” struts (the kit parts were damaged and too fragile). I also cut out and repositioned the elevators and rudder. Rigging is monofilament with brush-applied Testors Metalizer; the overall finish is Testors Model Master enamels. Alclad II chrome finished the prop.”
