Brian Duddy
Le Roy, New York
Brian wanted to try his hand at a “wedgie,” an abbreviated-format vignette that uses dramatic cuts and cross sections to narrow the focus of the viewer, “just enough to give some extra context to the figure,” he says. “Wedgies are convenient because they take up less space and don’t overwhelm the subject.” Here, he used a King’s Road Miniatures figure of Jimmy Doolittle with just the empennage of the Williams Brothers 1/32 scale Laird Super Solution, the racer Doolittle flew from Los Angeles to Cleveland to win the first Bendix Trophy in 1931.
