Originally from Los Angeles, where he was a member of the Orange County IPMS chapter, Andy finds himself building models in Auckland. He says, “I had always wanted to build an ‘April Fools’ model based on a magazine ad I saw in the 1990s for a Los Angeles Volkswagen parts shop. When a 1/72 scale die-cast VW T1 was produced by Schüco, I could finally build it. The aircraft parts are from an MPM 1/72 scale Fw 189.” Entering production in 1950, the microbus would not have been far off the “Luft ’46” track.
