Todd Wardwell

Glenolden, Pennsylvania

This is Todd’s kitbashed model of the U.S. Coast Guard Hazardous Materials Response Trailer (HMRT). The Coast Guard operates three of these 50-foot trailers. Each can support a team of 14 responders for four days of repeated hot zone entries. They are among the largest hazmat response trailers in the world, and the USCG provides its services to multiple state and federal agencies like the EPA, FEMA, DOD, and Secret Service. Todd says that the model was a Monogram Snap Tite 1/32 scale 2002 Jeff Gordon NASCAR Race Rig. Additional flood lights, roof air conditioners, and the road cans were all 3D-printed. Todd repurposed 1/35 scale Israeli armored crew figures in coveralls and converted Russian TUSK figures for the hazmat team. He painted plastic sandwich bags and sliced them with a razor blade to make the caution tape. The road is polyfoam covered in Woodland Scenics Concrete Top Coat. Todd made all decals on an Inkjet printer.
