William “Bill” Dedig

Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

Bill built a 1/48 scale Hasegawa Mustang Mk.IV as the final aircraft flown by the last No. 303 Squadron Commander when the unit was disbanded in 1946. Markings for the Royal Air Force squadron made up of Polish pilots and ground crew came from a ModelMaker sheet. After dressing up the interior with Eduard photo-etched metal and adding resin wheels, he airbrushed Alclad II lacquers over Tamiya Gloss Black  scheme, Bill painted Alclad over Tamiya Gloss Black and a final coat of Alclad Aqua Gloss. Bill kept weathering to a minimum because the actual aircraft was only a month old when the squadron was disbanded.
