Mike Walston

Highlands Ranch, Colorado

Of the Star Trek/Star Wars universe mashups we’ve seen, this has to be one of the most unique. Mike put the AMT Star Wars Death Star on the losing end of a fight against a Star Trek Planet Killer. He scratchbuilt the Planet Killer from red Solo cups and attached an LED to a Pilsner glass to represent the anti-proton beam. He detailed the Death Star with decals he designed on his computer and more LEDs. Splats of hot solder created the molten battle damage on both combatants. Mike says: “This scene makes sense when you consider that, in ‘The Doomsday Machine’ episode, Spock said the Planet Killer came 'from outside; from another galaxy.' And Kirk later speculated that it was 'used in a war uncounted years ago.' In other words, 'a long time ago, in a galaxy, far, far away.'”
