How can I add images to my thread?
Posted by ww2Xplorer on Sunday, January 10, 2021 3:07 PM

Hi. I would like to post a thread and add a photo of my new model kit but, after clicking the image option, I don't know how to add my photo.

Can you help me?

You need to have your image on an image hosting site. Copy the img code of your photo off of the image host site and then paste it into the source line of the image sub menu when you click on that icon while making a post.

That is really good advice. I use IMGUR as a hosting site. It's free. You may also need to resize your images to about 600x450.

Your comments and questions are always welcome.

I see that you successfully posted an image. Now try some of the different coding to play with the image sizing. Not giant, but not thumbnails either.

I don’t know how your chosen image host site Imgur works, as I use a different site. But the site that I use offers multiple choices of image codes to copy and paste for sharing. If yours does, try copying each one and see what the results are. Then remember which one gives you the image size and appearance that looks best.

I can not for the life of me figure this out to post photo's.

Can some one explain this in simple terms if possible or an easier way of doing this.

I'm on a number of different hobby forums and this is way to complicated on FSM.

I use Imgur for hosting my photos.

Here is what I do to add pictures to my posts with Imgur:

1. I login to Imgur and find the picture I want to post:

2. On the Direct Link Option click "Copy".

3. Now go to FSM forum and find the Thread you want to add the picture too.

4. Find the post and click the "Reply" button. (If you do not see a reply button, you may need to refresh the browser screen. Or go to another post that does have a "Reply" Button.) You should see the next picture:

5. The add picture icon is circled in Red. Click on it, the next pic will show you what needs to be added:

6. Source circled in Red is where you will paste the copied information from Imgur, or any hosting site. Then I set dimensions to 500 X 350 and I leave Constrain proportion checked. These are arbitrary numbers, they can be set to whatever your prference may be. I do not add an Image Description, however you can if you like.

7. Click "OK" to add the picture. At this time you still have not posted the post, and you can go back and make adjustments. When done, click on "Submit your reply" at the bottom of the page.

8. Hope this helps.

Thank you hogfanfs.

I'll give it a try this weekend.

Why do they make you take this long convoluted route just to post photos???

You're welcome, I hope it works.

FSM does this because they do not want to pay for the overhead for server space to store all these photos from all these users.

Unfortunately the Imgur app does not work quite the same way on an android phone and is more limited.

As I don't have access to a laptop I guess I'm out of luck as far a posting photos.

I just added this picture from Imgur with my iPhone, it's the first time I have ever used my phone for this. So it can be done.

Once I clicked on the image I wanted to copy in imgur, there is a small icon at the bottom of the picture. I touched this icon, and it gave me options, one was to copy the link. I pressed this and then pasted the link as in my instructions above in Step 5.

Hope this helps.

I will try this again.

Might get the wife to help as she uses her phone more than I do for this type of thing.

Some people were talking about Imgur. Does this site works all the time? Is there ohers you recommend?

Thanks for your help!

Why can't you upload more photos to Imageshack?  It has always worked for me and still does.  Does the site not work anymore where you live?

I just added these two pictures from imgur with my phone. After I added the first picture, I had to hit return to get the cursor below the picture, then followed the same process as the first picture.

Hope this helps.
