Greetings from Northern Michigan

Hello Everyone,

I started building models early on with my dad, and recently picked up the hobby once again in my mid 20's. My subjects of interest center around AFV's, Sci-fi, and ships. I look forward to learning new techniques/tips from you all and sharing a few things I have learned along the way. Glad to be part of the Finescale community.

Hi Johnathan !!

I build ships too. Mostly Ocean Going Tankers-You know-Oil and Bulk liquids. Some are scratch built, some are conversions. Many in H.O.(1/87) and some in "N"( 1/160)are scratchbuilt or very heavily modified. I tinker from time to time in MaschinenKreiger and Sci-Fi as well. Welcome aboard my Friend.

Welcome aboard. Are you from the upper peninsula? My mom's family was from Houghton. Her ashes rest just outside of the outer buoy at Copper Harbour.

I'm a Tech grad.  I build all genre, but folks tell me that ships are my specialty.  I do sailing ships full-rigged, but my real specialty is scratch-built lakers.

One suggestion I have for new folks is to explore the entire list of forums.  There are some gems that many people are unaware of.  Particularly check out the section Tools, Techniques, and Reference materials.  Everyone should include the Painting and Airbrushing forum.

Welcome rocketman. I attended NMU from 1979 thru 1982. Miss the UP a lot during our hot GA summers. I to build ship models, try to avoid rigging though so mine have been an American Scout model i am restoring and a couple fishing boats with minimal rigging.

Hi Johnathan! Welcome! I'm a new arrival & also in the TC area since 2003. I've been thinking lately about seeing if there is an active model club in our area and maybe starting one up if not.

Welcome aboard!  Always nice to see another Northern Michigander.  Im new to the group as well and live right at the bridge.  TC is a great area.  Any good hobby shops down your way?

Perfection is having fun and relaxing...not building the perfect model.
