Godzilla vs Kong
Posted by Slightly Altered Concepts on Sunday, March 14, 2021 4:04 PM

The new movie coming out, or already out, I'm not sure which.

Who do you root for?

Me, I'm hoping for Godzilla to reign supreme. It stems from a deep admiration for all things prehistoric. My K-5 Blazer is named T-REX, an abbreviation for Tactical Reconnaissance and EXploration. She lives up to her name, believe me she does.

So just question to probe the minds of those on here.

Who are you rooting for?

Back for more. I can no longer access this blog, but, here's some older work.

I can't decide, my wife has almost all the old corny Godzilla movies. We enjoy watching them from time to time....me more for the models they use rather than the " plot". Given the high development of CG special effects it could be a real showdown. Kinda hope it doesn't overdo the effects like Kong on Skull Island or the Transformers movies, to much detail to look at.

Not for nothing, but isn't the original Godzilla way too big for the original King Kong.

400ft vs 148ft

So how are they fixing this in the new film,I wonder how Kong can survive atomic fire, when simple bullets wounded him.

Godzilla = Radioactive fire breath.

King Kong = Eats bananas and can climb stuff.

I don't see a contest here.

Oh wait, this is yet another Hollywood reboot, so anything is possible.  Maybe Kong has Midichlorians in his blood, or he has a Mutant Power Gene.  Or he has one of the Infinity Stones.  Or uses lens flare as a weapon of last resort.  Okay I'll stop here.

As Ken Watanabe said in a previous movie: "Let them fight."

Kong looks to have increased in stature, to the same height as Godzilla, judging by the trailers.

Either way, I think the real loser will be the audience.

Tojo, from what little understanding I have garnered the Kong on skull island was supposed to be a juvenile. And basically grew up.

Now, I don't know if the article I read on that was accurate, albeit a little "hokey"

All depends on how ya look at it Glam. As much of a fan as my wife and I ate of these types of movies since my satillite has been turned off I get hoodwinked into watching EXTREMELY low budget movies, anything with something close to real special effects looks great. Doesn't mean I'm gonna camp out overnight to watch it in a theatre. Probably pick it up on Blue Ray when that releases.

Well, in the original, King Kong won. Not sure about how it's going down this time around. But in reality, Godzilla beats a giant gorilla.

I'm partial to Godzilla because he's a reptile.  Yes

Yes.

Gamera = Superheated breath + can fly through air AND space + friend to all children + is a giant turtle.

It's all win-win to me.  Wink

Until the day he died, my dad and I aruged who won.  I claimed Godzilla the victor, while my dad went with Kong.  But, there are actually two versions of the original movie - the one you reference with Kong "winning" (yet swimming out to sea away from where the fight was), and the other where you hear Godzilla roar after they fall into the ocean, so the lizard "won".  I believe the latter was done by a Japanese director and is typically only available in Japan.

As for the new movie, as a lifelong Godzilla fan, I already have a ticket to see it on opening day.  And I recently subscribed to HBOMax for Zach Synder's Justice League, but plan to watch GvK right away again after the theater.

Always rooted for Godzilla so this time's no different. Unfortunately, this looks like it has the same lead 'human' actor as in the last one, and that stunk. I'm hopeful that this ones better, but not counting on it.

Don't really care but if pressed I'd say Kong.

All the monsters in the Titan universe don't care about anything around them anyway.

Oh wait, except for Gamera.

Actually that's a widely spread urban myth that there were two cuts. There was only one cut. You're right the Japanese version did have one more roar from Big G at the end.

It was always explained to me as a draw. But since Godzilla quit the field (aka ran away) Kong always seemed to be the winner to me too.

There won't be a winner.  Hollywood needs a sequel.

Nah.  They'll both be winners, so as not to offend any of the woke people.

Haven't seen any of the kong remakes and this I haven't heard of and will not waste my time with.  Based on he original movies koong would not stand a chance.  What did it take to kill him back in the 30s?  A few simple bi-planes with primative .30 caliber weapons.  Godzilla was much larger, much stronger, armored by scales, and had much badder breath.  On top of that leading lady damsels in distress didn't matter to him.

Godzilla does have a rock song about him by Blue Oyster Cult....could that be enough to overthrow the mighty Kong?

Just saw a quick trailer for this flick which should be out in a day or so. Shows Kong and Godzilla the same height. If thats the case, I'll go against the grain and give it to Kong. He's way more agile and has the reach to give ol Zilla the knockout hay maker. He could also grab that tail and give Zilla an airplane ride. What's he gonna do.... nothin. Game over.

Be careful of what you ask for, you just might get it.

Not quite related to the movie, but last week, I saw an Audi TT with a DC plate: GOJIRA. Yeah, I know, that belongs on a Nissan GT-R.

Don't know about that.  My two reptiles were a lot more intelligent than some of the primates I have known.  Pirate

I don't know, shouldn't atomic breath trump all,tje ultimate stand off wrapon, what is the reasoning on why Kong wouldn't be burned by it,after all he was vulnerable to other weaponry

I saw the movie today at the theater, and am watching it again now at home on HBONow. Some truly great big monster fight scenes, some curious science fiction-y stuff, and a generally enjoyable time at the movies.
