My Grandpa

I'm sorry for your loss and offer my sincere condolences. 

You should feel lucky that you had so many years and that he was able to know your son.

My father's dad was also an avid modeler, in his case 1/48 trains. I have a number of his models and a little bit of information about his affiliation with the NMRA. Sadly he died in a car accident when my own dad was 17.

Yours is probably up there now chewing the fat with mine.

Sorry to hear that.  Heaven just got a heck of a lot better at scale modeling.

My grandpa passed away yesterday.  It was quite sudden and he was in reasonably good health.  I suppose it was just his time.  I bring this up here because he was an avid modeler for most of his 90 years.  My great grandfather got him started in the 30s, my grandpa got my dad started in the 60s, my dad got me started, and I got my son started.  Every time we visited the conversations always turned to what was on the bench, and different techniques.  He was always willing to give my son a kit from his stash.  Perhaps even more amazingly, my grandfather was able to build all the models he had in his stash.  I already miss him so much.

 

My condolences mate.

 

So sorry for your loss. We all know that he is surely up at the great workbench in the sky.

It's just painful knowing you won't be able to talk to him again until later.

SB so sorry for your loss but so glad you have the wonderful memories. By the time I was old enough to remember him my grandpa's health was in severe decline and I never really got to know him. It's very cool that you are continuing the long family legacy of time spent at the scale model bench.

     I feel your loss. My Grandpa, now gone twelve yers or more, was one of my inspirations toward anything Miniature. He loved tinkering with Cuckoo Clocks! When he was in his late eighties he still messed with as Grandma would say" Those darned clocks".

     He could take one that fell off the wall or whatever and get it running and calling once again. I think we counted fifty or so in the shop. They all kept what he called "His Time"
