Mail call - Giving Mission Models paint a try.  I haven't done a Japanese plane since I was 19 or so and realized I don't have the colors.  So after hearing some great things about this line of paint, I bought their entire Japanese color set.  I haven't had much luck with acrylics in the past, but I'm going to follow their program to the letter so we'll see.

Got the eduard pit set for the 1/48  RF4-C yesterday, and the brassin alq71's, along with the old Italeri RF4-C today.

Got a set of the old Fox One decals for it a couple days ago.  The designer of those bent over backwards to help out with those.

Well lots of talk of Hurricanes, Typhoons, Tempests, etc. on another site where I'm active got me wondering how I could make my second Monogram Hawker Typhoon different from my last build, aside from armament (bomb racks or rocket rails) or backdating the kit into a car door type, and I remembered that for half of their wartime service career, they had a three bladed propellor, while the kit comes with the later four bladed type. So a bit of searching on eBay later, and I came up with this old KMC conversion set, which also included exhausts. And then I think somebody tossed a set of wheels in there as well, because those are not shown to be included in the set, but came in mine. I’m not complaining.

The jury is still out on the Mission Models paint for me John.

I received some items myself in the past few weeks.

First one that came in is a Williams Brothers Pratt and Whitney Wasp Jr. It's out of production so it cost more than it did while they were in producion but I got it for a friend of mine so it was worth it. It WAS still in the wrapper.

Next is the Tamiya 1/72 Boeing X-32. Gawdawful looking thing but I always wanted one.

Next was the 1/72 Special Hobby Short Sunderland Mk III. Nice looking kit and its big.

Then finally I got some resin AM for my little 1/72 Heller SBC-4 Helldiver. Cowl and engine and cockpit interior.

Nice decals John. I haven't checked out Werner's Wings before even though I've seen them mentioned on the forum before. Maybe it's me, but I had a hard time finding the set you bought on their site.

I'm curious what you think of MMP. I almost bought some to use on the BF-109 I posted earlier, but decided to try Mr. Color instead. I still have a lot of different brands of paints I haven't tried yet. Not sure if you saw the fairly recent MMP thread in the paint section.

I tried posting this yesterday with a link to that thread, but kept getting the "403 forbidden" error.

What other forums are you guys on? I like the guys on this forum, but the "403" error is aggrevating.

I like the look of that Wasp engine.  When you say it WAS still in the wrapper. does that mean it's not now?

I also like the Sunderland, and the resin for the SBC-4 looks pretty sharp.  The X-32, however... sorry, not my cup of tea.  Still, we're all different - I hope you enjoy it!

After a "sort of" moratorium on buying kits (since about November), I've been on a bit of a spree - 

The Harriers were both e-bay snags.  I didn't have any Harriers & have fond memories of building them as a lad, also of the real aircraft, which I saw many times.  Bish's recent builds convinced me I needed some!

The Churchill AVRE & Crocodile also came from e-bay, just because I like the Churchill tank.  The Spifire Vc - well, it's a Spitfire, who needs a reason?  I recently built Airfix's Hawk T1 for the Weekend Madness GB - I didn't meet the deadline, but I really enjoyed the kit, so I want to try another one, hence the Hawk 100.  The Ju88 was bought because I've always liked that aeroplane, but never built one, and I heard good things about this new Revell release.  I actually got it a little while ago, but I don't think I mentioned it here.  I haven't seen any build reviews of this kit yet - has anyone here got any comments on it?

I'm sure there was something else... oh, yes, the Tiffy!  I've been humming & ha-ing about buying this for the last year or so, but the £120 price tag put me off - that's about 3 times as much as I've ever paid for a kit.  But Jadlam were selling them for £95, and I had loyalty points worth another £12, so I got it for £83 (including delivery).  I seriously doubt I'll find it at a better price than that.  I've also ordered Brett Green's "how to" book, and a fabric harness, but I've no idea when they will arrive.  The harness is coming from the Czech Republic and, since Brexit, all imports from Europe seem to be bogged down in Customs & Excise paperwork that doesn't seem to apply to stuff from anywhere else in the world.

So, I think I'll let the credit card have a bit of a rest for a while.

I got that same 88 last month after having the A-4 for a few years, they look like really nice kits and i have heard good things.

Now that Tiffy has to be a candidate for the Close air support GB.

I have bought a couple of things from EU countries this year, Germany and Poland, and have not noticed any major problems in delivery.

      I also splurged on the Arfix Typhoon....man whatta kit, really didn't want to wait for a good friend to pass to receive one from his will. Dark yes but funny when put into context.

As for myself, I picked up this nice pair of tankers from Verlinden. What I really like about them is that they are not wearing leggings so they can work fine to be paired with Korean War or early Cold War tanks. Not sure what I’ll do with them yet.

Lysol?  I've heard of people washing the sprues in warm soap and water, but never disinfecting them!  Never can be too safe!

On inspecting that huge kit and, given the rate at which I build, I doubt I'd get it finished in time - it's a monster!  As it happens, I've entered that GB with a Beaufighter (Airfix 1/72, Op Firedog), so I'm probably safer sticking to that.  However, I do plan a biggish build in the near future, and I think someone might be running a Supermarine/Vickers GB, so maybe the Valiant (Airfix again - yes, I know...) might emerge, blinking in the sunlight...once I get my bench cleared.

I had an e-mail from a model shop in Essex recently, saying they had a delivery of 2 pallets of kits that came with 114 A4 sheets of Customs paperwork.  Hopefully my harness will just come in the post, and avoid all that.

Be nice to see that Valiant. I should be doing the Victor this year for the Falklands GB and i plan on getting the Vulcan but i have dithered on the Valiant. I guess if i have the other 2, i really should add it.

I know Hannants are still haveing issues with posting to the EU which i find odd given how easy i got my stuff in. I guess stores ordering in bulk from there have to jimp through a lot more hoops.

Well the postman brought this a few hours ago. Thank you John Eaton! I love the “painting guide for lozenge pattern camouflage” labeling... on such a large subject that’s gonna drive me crazy! But then again, I used to parachute out of perfectly good airplanes in the middle of the night, so I have screw loose upstairs somewhere...

Stick I like those figures. It almost looks like they are hiding from a sniper. I also always wanted a Gotha. If you don't build it soon I'm thinking of doing a GB, maybe next year, maybe 2023 called Two many wings, two many tails. That would be a fit perfect.

You really went all out,I stuck my toe in the water with a Sherman and a KT that I did.I enjoyed them,they spray a nice smooth tough coat.I benefited from some internet reviews and Missions own FAQ

Forgot I ordered this guy - If you have never seen the movie The Light Horsemen you may want to add it to you list.  Great cavalry charge.  This guy is one of the Australian Light Horse - there was another figure around, 90mm I think but I could never find it so I was please to find this one, though 54mm may test my eyes.  Nicely moulded.  From Tommy's War in the UK and they have a LOT of 54mm WWI subjects

I have heard of Tommy's war and see some of there figures at shows and clubs. Never done one myself though, will have to check them out.

I've already got the Airfix Buccaneer S.2C navy version, now the S.2B boxing has been released and arrived yesterday.

Going to be sticking to the wrap around scheme when i get to this one.

Bish I'm a sucker for a red box kit! I'll get this one in the stash one of these days. 

As I said I've tried to slow down my kit purchases until I can get my stash under a little better control. 

Figures are accessories and don't count as kits though... 

Top four are for some 'Road Warrior' type dios I want to build whenever I get around to them. They're all by Yu Fan, which I only recently heard of, I'm really impressed by the quality and they're pretty cheap to boot. Check Ali Express and search for 'Resin Figure Model Kits' for more information. I've picked up stuff in both 1/35th armour scale and 1/24th auto scale from them. 

 The bottom two for a 'Red Dawn' type diorama. I'm no expert but their NBC gear looks like what I've seen of Soviet stuff I've seen online. And the weapons look like AK-47s. 

They do have a Chernobyl type Soviet vibe.
